The 2012 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Tournament involved eight schools in Single-elimination tournament, single-elimination play that determined the national champion of women's National Collegiate Athletic Association, NCAA Division I (NCAA), Division I college sports, college ice hockey. AMSOIL Arena
AMSOIL Arena is a multipurpose arena in Duluth, Minnesota, home to the UMD Men's and UMD Women's hockey teams. It opened in 2010, replacing the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center Arena on the waterfront near Duluth's landmark Aerial Lift Bridge. Naming rights for 20 years were purchased by AMSOIL, a corporation based in Superior, Wisconsin, for $6 million, one-third up front. The facility cost nearly $80 million; about half ($38 million) paid by the State of Minnesota through a 2008 bond bill, another 27% (about $21.6 million) by a voter-approved city food-and-beverage tax increase, 12% (about $9.6 million) by UMD, and the last 11% (about $8.8 million) by the DECC. Noora Räty
Noora Helena Räty (born 29 May 1989) is a Finnish ice hockey goaltender, playing in the Naisten Liiga (ice hockey), Naisten Liiga (NSML) with HPK Kiekkonaiset. She is affiliated with the Minnesota chapter of the Professional Women's Hockey Players Association (PWHPA) and is a founding member of the organization's board. The annual NCAA women's ice hockey tournament—officially known as the National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship—is a college ice hockey tournament held in the United States by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the top women's team in the NCAA. 2012 CIS Women's Ice Hockey Tournament
The 2012 CIS Women's Ice Hockey Championship was held March 8 to March 11, 2012, in Edmonton, Alberta, to determine a national champion for the 2011–12 women's ice hockey season. The tournament was played at Clare Drake Arena and was hosted by the University of Alberta for the first time in school history. The third-seeded Calgary Dinos won the first gold medal in program history by defeating the sixth-seeded Montréal Carabins by a score of 5–1 in the gold medal game. NCAA Division I Women's Ice Hockey Tournament Most Outstanding Player
The tournament Most Outstanding Player is an annual award given out at the conclusion of the NCAA women's ice hockey tournament to the player to be judged the most outstanding. The award has been in effect since the adoption of a national championship tournament for the 2000–01 season. History Only one winner did not play for the National Champion, Kristy Zamora in 2002. Brooke Reimer (née Ammerman; born July 13, 1990) is an American retired ice hockey Forward (ice hockey), forward. She scored the first goal in Metropolitan Riveters franchise history in the inaugural game of the National Women's Hockey League, on October 11, 2015. Amanda Kessel (born August 28, 1991) is an American professional ice hockey player. She has been a member of the United States women's national ice hockey team and played four seasons for the Minnesota Golden Gophers women's ice hockey program (2010–11 through 2012–13, and 2015–16). Megan Bozek (born March 27, 1991) is an American ice hockey player and member of the United States national team. She most recently played with the KRS Vanke Rays of the Zhenskaya Hockey League (ZhHL) during the 2020–21 season.
