2012 AFC Champions League Group Stage
The 2012 AFC Champions League group stage was contested by a total of 32 teams (16 from West Zone and 16 from East Zone). They included: *28 teams which directly entered the 2012 AFC Cup group stage (14 from West Zone and 14 from East Zone) *4 winners of the 2012 AFC Champions League qualifying play-off final round (2 from West Zone and 2 from East Zone) The draw for the group stage was held at the AFC house in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 6 December 2011, 16:00 UTC+08:00. The 32 teams were drawn into eight groups of four. Clubs from the same country may not be drawn into the same group. In each group, teams played each other home-and-away in a round-robin format. The matchdays were 6–7 March, 20–21 March, 3–4 April, 17–18 April, 1–2 May, and 15–16 May 2012. The winners and runners-up of each group advanced to the knockout stage. 2012 AFC Champions League
The 2012 AFC Champions League was the 31st edition of the top-level Asian club football tournament organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and the 10th under the current AFC Champions League title. Ulsan Hyundai from South Korea won their first title, defeating Al-Ahli from Saudi Arabia with a 3–0 win in the final, and qualified for the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup. Allocation of entries per association The AFC approved criteria for participation in the 2011 and 2012 seasons. The final decision date was set after the Executive Committee meeting in November 2010. Benjamin Jon Williams (born 14 April 1977), better known as Ben Williams, is a retired Australian football referee. Refereeing career Williams officiates in the Asian Champions League (ACL), AFC Cup and in the Australian A-League football competition. Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium
Ahmad bin Ali Stadium (), popularly known as the Al-Rayyan Stadium, is an association football stadium located in the district of Rawdat Al Jahhaniya, Qatar, around northwest from the centre of Al Rayyan. It is currently used mostly for football matches and it is the home to Al-Rayyan Sports Club and Al-Kharitiyath Sports Club. The stadium is named after Ahmad bin Ali Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar from 1960 to 1972. The former stadium, built in 2003, had a seating capacity of 21,282 and was demolished in 2015. The new Al Rayyan Stadium has a seating capacity of 45,000. The stadium is located about 20 km west of Doha. Construction The Ahmad bin Ali Stadium is one of eight stadiums being used in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Goran Jerković (born 10 November 1986) is a French former professional footballer who played as a forward. He ended his professional footballing career in 2021. Club career Jerković played in the French and Belgian lower divisions before signing a contract with Lithuainian club Žalgiris. In June 2010, during a league game against Šiauliai, he suffered serious injuries to his cruciate ligament and meniscus that put him out of action for half a year.
