The 2011–12 Philadelphia 76ers season was the 73rd season of the franchise, 63rd in the National Basketball Association (NBA), and the 49th in Philadelphia. The Sixers finished the regular season with a 35–31 record, earning the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference and a berth in the 2012 NBA Playoffs. Philadelphia faced the top-seeded Chicago Bulls in the first round and won the series in six games. This marked the first time the Sixers won an NBA playoffs series since 2003, when they defeated the New Orleans Hornets in six games in the First Round. Doug Collins (basketball)
Paul Douglas Collins (born July 28, 1951) is an American basketball executive, former player, coach and television analyst in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played in the NBA from 1973 to 1981 for the Philadelphia 76ers, earning four NBA All-Star selections. He then became an NBA coach in 1986, and had stints coaching the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers. Collins also served as an analyst for various NBA-related broadcast shows. He is a recipient of the Curt Gowdy Media Award. Early life Collins was born in Christopher, Illinois. Nikola Vučević
Nikola Vučević (Serbian Cyrillic: Никола Вучевић, ; born 24 October 1990) is a Montenegrin professional basketball player for the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for the USC Trojans before being drafted 16th overall in the 2011 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. Vučević, who spent his rookie season with the 76ers, was traded to Orlando Magic before the start of the 2012–13 season as a part of the four-team trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers. The 2011 NBA draft was held on June 23, 2011, at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The draft started at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time (23:00 UTC), and was broadcast in the United States on ESPN. Kia Motors was the presenting sponsor of the 2011 NBA draft.
