2011–12 Olympique Lyonnais Season
The 2011–12 season of Olympique Lyonnais was the club's 53rd season in Ligue 1. After a third-place finish last season, the club played in the UEFA Champions League for the 12th consecutive season. News At the end of the 2010–11 season, fans had become dissatisfied with then manager Claude Puel, despite the club managing to finish in third place, synonymous with qualification to the UEFA Champions League Play-off round. Claude Puel
Claude Jacques Puel (; born 2 September 1961) is a French football manager and former player. He spent his entire playing career with Monaco, before becoming manager of the club, leading them to the league title in his first full season in charge. He has also managed Lille, Lyon, Nice and Saint-Étienne in Ligue 1, and Southampton and Leicester City in England's Premier League. Playing career Puel started his football career as a youth with Castres FC, where he was spotted by AS Monaco, joining their training centre in 1977. Gueïda Fofana (; born 16 May 1991) is a former French footballer. He was a French youth international and has captained at all levels of youth. In 2010, he captained the France team that won the 2010 UEFA European Under-19 Football Championship on home soil. He operated as a defensive midfielder, but could also play as a defender and was known for his physical style of play. Miralem Pjanić
Miralem Pjanić (born 2 April 1990) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for UAE Pro League club Sharjah and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. Pjanić started his professional career at Metz being there for one season. He signed for side Lyon in 2008 before signing for Roma in 2011 after three seasons at Lyon. During his time in Rome, Pjanić came to be recognized as one of the best midfielders in Serie A. Mouhamadou Dabo (born 28 November 1986) is a French-Senegalese professional footballer who plays as a right-back, but has played left-back. He most recently played for Caen in Ligue 1. Club career Saint-Étienne Born in Dakar, Dabo began his career with ASC Yeggo and he then joined French club Saint-Étienne's youth academy when he was 14 years old. Bakary Koné (, born 27 April 1988) is a Burkinabé former professional footballer who played as a centre back. Club career Early career Koné played on youth side for CFTPK Abidjan and joined in 2004 to Etoile Filante where he began his professional career in 2005. Dejan Lovren (; born 5 July 1989) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Russian Premier League club Zenit Saint Petersburg and the Croatia national team. Lovren began his career at Dinamo Zagreb before moving to Olympique Lyonnais in January 2010. He spent three-and-a-half seasons with the Ligue 1 team and won the 2012 Coupe de France before he signed for Southampton in 2013. Ederson Honorato Campos (born 13 January 1986) is a Brazilian former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career Early career Ederson began his footballing career playing on the streets of São Paulo. When he was 15, he joined Brazilian second tier club RS Futebol.
