2011–12 Division 1 Féminine
The 2011–12 Division 1 Féminine season was the 38th since its establishment. Lyon are the defending champions. The league schedule was announced on 31 March 2011 and the fixtures were determined on 10 June. The season began on 3 September 2011 and ended on 2 June 2012. The winter break was in effect from 11 December 2011 to 7 January 2012. Teams There will be three promoted teams from the Division 2 Féminine, the second level of women's football in France, replacing the three teams that were relegated from the Division 1 Féminine following the 2010–11 season. A total of 12 teams will compete in the league with three clubs suffering relegation to the second division, Division 1 Féminine. La Roche-sur-Yon was the first club to suffer relegation from the first division to the Division 2 Féminine. Division 1 Féminine
The Division 1 Féminine, shortened as D1 Féminine or D1F, and currently known as D1 Arkema for sponsorship reasons, is the highest division of women's football in France. Run by the French Football Federation, the league is contested by twelve fully professional clubs. Founded in 1974, the league exists in its current format since 1992. Seasons run from September to June, with teams playing 22 games each totaling 132 games in the season. Most games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Play is regularly suspended after the second week in December before returning in the third week of January. The Division 1 Féminine is ranked the best women's league in Europe according to UEFA 2019–20 women's association club coefficients. Villeneuve-lès-Maguelone (Occitan: ''Vilanòva de Magalona'') is a commune in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region in Southern France. The Stade de Gerland (known for sponsorship reasons as Matmut Stadium de Gerland and otherwise known as Municipal de Gerland or Stade Gerland ) is a stadium in the city of Lyon, France, which serves as home to Top 14 rugby club Lyon OU. It has a seating capacity of 35,000. Hénin-Beaumont (; pcd, Hinnin-Biaumont) is a commune in the Pas-de-Calais department in the Hauts-de-France region of France. Geography Hénin-Beaumont used to be a coalmining town and is now a light industrial town situated some east of Lens, at the junction of the N43, D919 and the D39 roads. En Avant Guingamp Féminines are a French football club based in Saint-Brieuc, a commune in the Brittany region. The club was previously the women's section of men's football club Stade Briochin and was founded in 1973 under the name Chaffoteaux Sports Saint-Brieuc. Toulouse FC Féminines is a French football representing Toulouse FC. It currently competes in the Division 2 Féminine. Founded in 1980 as Toulouse OAC, the team became a section of Toulouse FC in 2001, at its peak. Toulouse OAC settled in the top positions of the French First Division in the second half of the 90s and soon became a powerhouse, winning four championships in a row between 1999 and 2002. It was the first team to achieve this since the league's unification in 1992. The latter was their most successful season, as they also won the national Cup and reached the semifinals of the UEFA Women's Cup after topping its group and beating Arsenal FC.
