Eyvind Solås
Eyvind Stauri Solås (11 May 1937 – 22 April 2011) was a Norwegian musician, composer, actor and program host in NRK, both the Norwegian television and radio. Solås was instrumental in the establishment of the music and theater line subjects at Romerike Folk High School, where he was a professor in the late 1960s. He later worked for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation from 1969-2002 where he hosted the TV series ''Musikknytt'' from 1972-1986. The Ides Of March (band)
The Ides of March is an American jazz rock band that had a major US and minor UK hit with the song "Vehicle" in 1970. After going on hiatus in 1973, the band returned with their original line-up in 1990 and has been active since then. Career Early days The Ides of March began in Berwyn, Illinois (a near western suburb of Chicago), on October 16, 1964, as a four-piece band called "The Shon-Dels". Their first record, "Like It or Lump It", was released on their own "Epitome" record label in 1965. In 1966, after changing their name to The Ides of March (a name suggested by bassist Bob Bergland after reading Shakespeare's ''Julius Caesar'' in high school), the band released their first single on Parrot Records, "You Wouldn't Listen". The song reached No. 7 on WLS Chicago on June 17, 1966, and No. 42 on the Hot 100 on July 23–30, 1966. William Hargis Bowman, Jr. (April 21, 1941 – February 22, 2011), better known by his stage name Beau Dollar, was an American soul vocalist and drummer for King Records. He performed on many studio albums for various artists under contract with King, including James Brown. His most prominent work was performed as "Beau Dollar & The Dapps" and "Beau Dollar & The Coins". George Shearing
Sir George Albert Shearing, (13 August 1919 14 February 2011) was a British jazz pianist who for many years led a popular jazz group that recorded for Discovery Records, MGM Records and Capitol Records. Shearing was the composer of over 300 titles, including the jazz standards "Lullaby of Birdland" and " Conception", and had multiple albums on the '' Billboard'' charts during the 1950s, 1960s, 1980s and 1990s. He died of heart failure in New York City, at the age of 91. Biography Early life Born in Battersea, London, Shearing was the youngest of nine children. He was born blind to working-class parents: his father delivered coal and his mother cleaned trains in the evening.
