Estonia In The Eurovision Song Contest 2011
Estonia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song "Rockefeller Street" written by Sven Lõhmus. The song was performed by Getter Jaani. The Estonian broadcaster Eesti Rahvusringhääling (ERR) organised the national final ''Eesti Laul 2011'' in order to select the Estonian entry for the 2011 contest in Düsseldorf, Germany. The national final consisted of three shows: two semi-finals and a final. Ten songs competed in each semi-final and the top five from each semi-final as determined by a jury panel and public vote qualified to the final. In the final, the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. In the first round, a jury panel and a public vote selected the top two to qualify to the superfinal. In the superfinal, "Rockefeller Street" performed by Getter Jaani was selected as the winner entirely by a public vote. Enn Klooren
Enn Klooren (21 June 1940 – 26 March 2011) was an Estonian actor. Klooren was born in Tallinn and grew up in Türi. After graduating the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1968 Klooren worked in the Estonian Drama Theatre. Since 1989 he lived in Järva County where he among other things organized an amateur theatre. The 2011 FIS Nordic Junior World Ski Championships were held in Otepää, Estonia from 26 January to 31 January 2011. It was the 34th Junior World Championships and the 6th Under-23 World Championships in nordic skiing. The 2011 season of the Esiliiga, the second level in the Estonian football system, is the 21st season in the league's history. It starts in March and ends in November. 2011 Meistriliiga
The 2011 Meistriliiga was the 21st season of the Meistriliiga, the top Estonian league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 1992. The season began on 5 March 2011 and concluded on 5 November 2011. The defending champions Flora won their ninth league title. Teams Lootus finished the 2010 season in last place and were relegated to the 2011 Esiliiga as a result, ending their one-year stay in the Estonian top flight. Taking their place were Ajax, who finished the 2010 Esiliiga first among promotion-eligible clubs and third overall. They returned to the top flight after a three-year absence. Tulevik terminated their affiliation with Flora and continued as an independent club in the II Liiga. FC Viljandi was created to ensure top level football would remain in the city of Viljandi. 2011 Estonian Parliamentary Election
A parliamentary election was held in Estonia on 6 March 2011, with e-voting between 24 February and 2 March 2011. The newly elected 101 members of the 12th Riigikogu assembled at Toompea Castle in Tallinn within ten days of the election. The 101 members of the Riigikogu (Parliament of Estonia) were elected using a form of proportional representation for a four-year term. The seats were allocated using a modified D'Hondt method. The country is divided into twelve multi-mandate electoral districts. There is a nationwide threshold of 5% for party lists, but if the number of votes cast for a candidate exceeds or equals the simple quota (which shall be obtained by dividing the number of valid votes cast in the electoral district by the number of mandates in the district) the candidate is elected.
