Dutch Television
Television in the Netherlands was officially Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1951. In the Netherlands, the television market is divided between a number of commercial networks, such as RTL Nederland, and a system of public broadcasters sharing three channels, NPO 1, NPO 2, and NPO 3. Imported programmes (except those for children), as well as news interviews with responses in a foreign language, are almost always shown in their original language, with subtitles. Reception In the Netherlands, television can be watched analog or digital (the latter with the option of HDTV or Ultra-high-definition television, UHD). Over 2018, 89.2% of Dutch viewers received television digitally. Analogue television is only available via some cable operators and some fiber to the home providers, since the Dutch government ended analogue reception via airwaves in 2006. Ben Saunders (singer)
Ben Saunders (born 9 July 1983) is a Dutch singer who won the first-ever title of the Dutch singing competition series ''The Voice of Holland'' broadcast on RTL 4. The final of 2010–2011 season was held live on 21 January 2011. Saunders is also a tattoo artist. He is popularly known as "Tattoo Ben". Early life Saunders is of English origin. He is the younger brother of Dean Saunders who on 22 January 2011, won the title of the third season (2010–2011) of the Dutch music competition ''Popstars'', notably only a day after Ben's victory on ''The Voice''. Brothers Ben and Dean Saunders both started applying to talent competitions early like for the series ''Daddy's Wish''. They also took part in 1998 in ''Life is like a box of chocolates'' program. The Voice Of Holland (season 1)
''The Voice of Holland (season 1)'' was the first season of the Dutch reality singing competition, created by media tycoon John de Mol. The success of the show resulted in an international franchise called The Voice. It was aired from September 2010, to January 2011, on RTL4. One of the important premises of the show is the quality of the singing talent. Four coaches, themselves popular performing artists, train the talents in their group and occasionally perform with them. Talents are selected in blind auditions, where the coaches cannot see, but only hear the auditioner. The coaches were Jeroen van der Boom, Angela Groothuizen, Nick & Simon (working together) and Roel van Velzen. Martijn Krabbé was the only host in the debut season, Wendy van Dijk came to the live show on. ''The Voice of Holland'', also known as ''TVOH'', is a Dutch reality TV singing competition, that became a near global TV format franchise, created by media tycoon John de Mol and musician Roel van Velzen, in the Netherlands airing on RTL 4. For the first nine seasons, The Voice of Holland was hosted by Martijn Krabbé and Wendy van Dijk. Starting from the tenth season (2019–2020), Wendy van Dijk was replaced by Chantal Janzen. The central focus of the show is the singing talent and quality of the contestants. Three or four coaches / jurors, themselves successful performing artists, train the talents in their teams, and occasionally perform with them. NET 5
Net5 is a Dutch free-to-cable commercial TV channel and is part of Talpa TV, formerly a part of SBS Broadcasting B.V. and now owned by Talpa Network. Other channels of the group in the Netherlands are SBS6, Veronica, and SBS9. It is aimed at high-educated female viewers. The station broadcasts various series, reality shows, and films. History Net5 was launched by the SBS Broadcasting Group as their second commercial channel in the Netherlands next to SBS6. The head of SBS was Fons van Westerloo who left the company to work until 31 January 2008 to head the main competitor RTL Nederland (part of the RTL Group). Van Westerloo announced the new broadcast on 4 December 1998. It was supposed to become a commercial version of the Netherlands Public Broadcasting. Secret Story 2011 (Netherlands)
''Secret Story 2011'' is the Dutch version of ''Secret Story'', based on the original French version. The show started on February 13, 2011 on NET 5. The host for the Galas is Renate Verbaan and for the Daily Diary is Bart Boonstra. The house is the same one used in the Portuguese version, although it has been redecorated for this version. ''X Factor'' was a Dutch television music talent show contested by aspiring pop singers drawn from public auditions. It was shown Friday evenings on the RTL4 Network in the Netherlands. The show aired between 2006 and 2013 and was produced by Blue Circle. The "X Factor" of the title refers to the undefinable "something" that makes for star quality. ''X Factor'' replaced the highly successful '' Idols'', which was pulled from television after the third and fourth seasons. In the initial televised audition phase of the show, contestants sang in front of the ''X Factor'' judges in the hope of getting through to the "boot camp". After a further selection process, the judges were each given a category to mentor and the chosen finalists then progress to the second phase of the competition in which the public vote on live performances. NOS Journaal is the umbrella name for the news broadcasts of the Dutch public broadcaster NOS on radio and television. Jeugdjournaal (; "youth news programme") is a Dutch television news programme produced by the Dutch public service broadcaster NOS for children. The programme has been on air since 1981. Het Klokhuis
''Het Klokhuis'' ( Dutch for "The Applecore") is a daily documentary show for primary school children and young teenagers produced by ntr of the Netherlands. It first aired in 1988. It is broadcast every weekday at 18:25 on NPO 3 and lasts about 15 minutes. The subjects vary widely. Quite often, factories are visited, where a complete production process is explained. The serious parts are interspersed with sketches, which sometimes have aspects that only adults would understand, whilst still remaining funny for children. In 1990, there were plans to discontinue the show due to high costs, but after protests and questions asked in the Dutch parliament, it was decided to keep the show. In a later year, a bill was made to discontinue the production company, which endangered the show again.
