2011 World Senior Curling Championships
The 2011 World Senior Curling Championships were held at the Saint Paul Curling Club in St. Paul, Minnesota, United States from April 15 to 24, 2011. The event was held in conjunction with the 2011 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship. Canada swept the seniors event, winning both the men's and women's championships. Canada's Mark Johnson defeated the American hosts skipped by Geoff Goodland in an extra end, stealing a point to win 5–4, while Canada's Christine Jurgenson won a six-end game 9–2 over former world senior champion Ingrid Meldahl and her Swedish rink. Michael Sutherland (curler)
Michael William Sutherland (born 23 October 1954) is an Australian politician who was the Speaker of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. He was a Liberal member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from September 2008 to March 2017, representing the electorate of Mount Lawley. Before state politics, Sutherland was a City of Perth Councillor from 1995 to 2009 and served as deputy mayor for five years. Sutherland retired from the City of Perth Council in early 2009. Between 1982 and 1987 Sutherland served as a Johannesburg city councillor. Early life Sutherland was born to William and Alice Sutherland in Johannesburg, South Africa. Margie Smith
Margie Smith (born March 20, 1960, in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is an American curler from Shoreview, Minnesota. She is a former U.S. national senior women's champion. Smith has played in eight national championships, coming closest to winning in her first event in 1987, where she lost in the final to Washington's Sharon Good. She has also curled in the 1991, 1994, 1998, 2000, 2006, 2009 and 2011 U.S. women's championships. While never winning the women's nationals, Smith did win the women's senior national championship in 2011. This qualified her and her team of Debbie Dexter, Rachel Orvik, and Sally Barry to represent the United States at the 2011 World Senior Curling Championships. They finished the round robin in second place with an 8–2 record, but they lost both their semi-final match and the bronze medal match, forcing them to settle for 4th place. Hugh Ronald Alexander Millikin (born 4 July 1957 in North Vancouver (district municipality), North Vancouver, British Columbia) is an Australian curling, curler originally from Ottawa, Ontario. Career In 1986, while still residing in the Canadian province of Ontario, Millikin played second position for Dave Van Dine's Canadian Mixed Curling Championship team. Millikin would later move to Australia and has skipped the Australian team to nine Pacific Curling Championships titles. Millikin has also participated in 11 World Curling Championships. The team's top placements have been sixth place in 1992, 1993 and 2008. Millikin also went to the 1992 Winter Olympics, skipping the Australian team to a seventh-place finish in the demonstration event.
