2011 LATAM Challenge Series
2011 LATAM Challenge Series season was the fourth season of LATAM Challenge Series. The season started on April 9, and finished on November 20. There was nine double events, seven in Mexico and two in USA (both in Texas). The Venezuelan driver Giancarlo Serenelli retained the championship with seven victories in the season. He also runs in Super Copa Telcel. Cars For this season the cars were powered by 2019 cm3 L4 Volkswagen FSI Motors. Tatuus chassis are used. Kumho Tires supplies the tires. Drivers Schedule The 2011 schedule was presented in February. LATAM will run in the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez for first time, and return to Texas for two races. LATAM Challenge Series
LATAM Challenge Series is an open-wheel racing series based in Latin America. LATAM is the replacement for Formula Renault 2000 de America. Venues In the 7 seasons, 20 venues were used, all road courses. The races were mostly held in Mexico until 2013, while all the races in 2014 season were held in Florida and Texas. In 2008 and 2009 the series was a support race for the World Touring Car Championship's Race of Mexico in Puebla. Cars For the first two seasons, Formula Renault 2.0 cars was used. From 2010 the series uses a Formula Vee configuration, with Volkswagen engines. Tatuus Tatuus is an Italian chassis manufacturer for a series of formula racing series, being first founded in 1980. Apodaca
Apodaca () is a city and its surrounding municipality that is part of Monterrey Metropolitan area. It lies in the northeastern part of the Monterrey Metropolitan Area. It is known for becoming recently a heavy industrialized city. As of 2019, the city houses 70% of the industrial plants of the state of Nuevo León. Autódromo Monterrey
The Autódromo Monterrey is a racetrack in Apodaca, Nuevo León, México, in the Monterrey metropolitan area. The track currently is operated by DIPSA and host races for NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series, NASCAR México, drag racing, karting and Volkswagen Beetle, Volks races. History The track is located front the Del Norte International Airport. The Autódromo was inaugurated in 1970 by Filiberto Jiménez. In the 1970s, 500 km of Monterrey was the main event in this circuit. Layout The track has a long straight (used for drag racing), followed by a chicane (turn 1) which takes the drivers to a hairpin turn. Turn 6 is another chicane, together with T1 was added later. Originally the last curve was a banking turn, now used in the short layout. In the long version there is a bypass that conducts to the second part of this turn. Tuxtla Gutiérrez
Tuxtla Gutiérrez (, ) is the capital and the largest city of the Mexican southeastern state of Chiapas. It is the seat of the municipality of the same name, the most developed and populated in the state. Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez
The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez is a motorsport race track in Mexico City, Mexico, named after the racing drivers Ricardo (1942–1962) and Pedro Rodríguez (1940–1971). The circuit got its name shortly after it opened when Ricardo Rodríguez died in practice for the non-Championship 1962 Mexican Grand Prix. Ricardo's brother Pedro was also killed behind the wheel nine years later. Since 2015, the track has once again hosted the Formula One Mexican Grand Prix, an event it previously hosted in two separate periods on a different layout, the last occasion of which was in 1992. Decatur, Texas
Decatur is the county seat of Wise County, Texas, United States. Its population was 6,538 in 2020. History Wise County was established in 1856, and Taylorsville (in honor of Zachary Taylor) was made the county seat. Absalom Bishop, an early settler and member of the Texas Legislature, opposed naming the town after a Whig Party member, and in 1858, arranged to have the name changed to Decatur, in honor of naval hero Stephen Decatur. Angleton is a city in and the county seat of Brazoria County, Texas, United States, within the Houston–The Woodlands–Sugar Land metropolitan area.
