200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. When the sprinters adopt the 'set' position in the blocks they are able to adopt a more efficient starting posture and isometrically preload their muscles. This enables them to stride forwards more powerfully when the race begins and start faster. Sophia Warner
Sophia Warner (born 23 May 1974) is a Paralympian track and field athlete from England competing mainly in T35 sprint events. In 2012, she qualified for the 2012 Summer Paralympics, selected for the T35 100m and 200m sprint and is also part of the T35–38 women's relay team. In 2012, she became the commercial director of UK Athletics. Warner was born in Dorking in England in 1974. Warner, who has cerebral palsy, began racing at the age of 19 when she was persuaded by friends to attend a sports training weekend in Sheffield. Warner began to take her running seriously while she was studying for her degree in Biomedical Science and Business Studies at Leicester University. In June 2011 she competed in the IPC Athletics World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, winning the silver in the 200m and bronze in 100m sprints. Stefanie Reid
Stefanie McLeod Reid (born 26 October 1984) is a track and field paralympian who competes for Great Britain, competing mainly in category T44 long jump and sprint events. A multiple medal winner at European and world level, she won a bronze medal in the 200m at the 2008 Summer Paralympics and silver in the long jump at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. Reid was also a semi-finalist on ''Celebrity MasterChef'' in 2018 and was a quarter-finalist on the fourteenth series of ''Dancing on Ice''. Personal history Reid was born in New Zealand to British parents; her father is Scottish and her mother is English. The family moved to Toronto, Ontario, Canada when she was aged 4. Reid lost her right foot in a boating accident, aged 16. Her life was saved by a surgeon in Toronto who amputated her right leg below the knee. Marie-Amélie Le Fur
Marie-Amélie Le Fur (; born 26 September 1988) is a French Paralympic athlete from Vendôme, Centre Region, competing in T44 sprint and F44 long jump events. Her left leg was amputated below the knee following a motor scooter accident in 2004. Before she lost her leg, she was a French junior running champion. Le Fur competed in the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. There she won a silver medal in the women's Long jump - F44 event, a silver medal in the women's 100 metres - T44 event, and finished eighth in the women's 200 metres - T44 event. Inna Stryzhak (Ukrainian: Інна Стрижак), in some instances referred to as Inna Stryzhak-Dyachenko (née Dyachenko; born 11 June 1985) is a Paralympian athlete from Ukraine competing mainly in category T38 sprint events. Stryzhak competed in her first Paralympics at the 2000 Games in Sydney, Australia.
