Long Jump
The long jump is a track and field event in which athletes combine speed, strength and agility in an attempt to leap as far as possible from a takeoff point. Along with the triple jump, the two events that measure jumping for distance as a group are referred to as the "horizontal jumps". This event has a history in the ancient Olympic Games and has been a modern Olympic event for men since the first Olympics in 1896 and for women since 1948. Rules At the elite level, competitors run down a runway (usually coated with the same rubberized surface as running tracks, crumb rubber or vulcanized rubber, known generally as an all-weather track) and jump as far as they can from a wooden or synthetic board, 20 centimetres or 8 inches wide, that is built flush with the runway, into a pit filled with soft damp sand. Huseyn Hasanov (born 26 September 1986) is a Paralympian athlete from Azerbaijan competing mainly in T46 classification track and field events. Hasanov represented his country at the 2012 Summer Paralympics in London, where he competed in two events, the long jump and triple jump. He finished on the podium in the long jump, taking the bronze medal but was unable to improve on his first jump of 13.74 in the triple jump leaving him in fourth place. As well as Paralympic success, Hasanov has medaled at the IPC World Championships winning gold in the triple jump at the 2011 World Championships in Christchurch. Markus Rehm
Markus Rehm (born 22 August 1988) is a German Paralympic athlete. He began in sports at age 20 and became a long jump F44 world champion in 2011. His club is TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen and he is a medical specialist. Rehm is nicknamed "The Blade Jumper", as he is a long jumper with a blade-type leg prosthesis. Rehm's right leg was amputated below the knee after a wakeboarding accident. He uses a carbon-fibre bladed prosthesis, from which he jumps off. He holds the long jump world record in his category (8.62 m) set at the 2021 World Para Athletics European Championships in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
