2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships – Senior Men's Race
The Senior men's race at the 2011 IAAF World Cross Country Championships was held at the Polideportivo Antonio Gil Hernández in Punta Umbría, Spain, on March 20, 2011. IAAF
World Athletics, formerly known as the International Amateur Athletic Federation (from 1912 to 2001) and International Association of Athletics Federations (from 2001 to 2019, both abbreviated as the IAAF) is the international governing body for the sport of athletics, covering track and field, cross country running, road running, race walking, mountain running, and ultra running. Included in its charge are the standardization of rules and regulations for the sports, certification of athletic facilities, recognition and management of world records, and the organisation and sanctioning of athletics competitions, including the World Athletics Championships. Hosea Mwok Macharinyang
Hosea Mwok Macharinyang (12 June 1986 – 9 October 2021) was a Kenyan professional runner who specialized in the 10,000 metres and cross-country running. He won three consecutive team titles with Kenya at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships from 2006 to 2008. Career Like many Kenyan elite athletes, Hosea first began running while traveling to and from school. In 2004 he came second in the junior race at the Kenyan Cross Country Championships and was later selected for the world championship team. As a cross country junior athlete he came sixth at the World Cross Championships that year, improving to fourth place the following year. Macharinyang made his first appearances on the track in 2004 and after a fourth place over 10,000 metres at the 2004 World Junior Championships in Athletics, he went on to take the silver medal at the 2005 African Junior Athletics Championships. Craig Mottram (born 18 June 1980) is a former Australian long and middle-distance runner who specialised in the 5000 meter event. Early years Mottram was born on 18 June 1980 in Frankston, Victoria. He attended Geelong Grammar School. Career At 6 feet 2 inches, Mottram is unusually tall for a distance runner. Dickson Huru (born 10 September 1990) is a Ugandan long-distance runner who competes in cross country running competitions. He has represented his country in the discipline four times at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships, sharing the team bronze medal in 2011. Huru made his international debut in the junior race at the 2007 IAAF World Cross Country Championships, where he came 23rd and placed fourth in the team race with Uganda. His first international medal followed the year after at the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games as he finished in second place to compatriot Moses Kibet in the 5000 metres. Feyisa Lilesa (Afaan Oromo: Fayyisaa Leellisaa; born 1 February 1990) is an Oromo long-distance runner from Ethiopia. He became the youngest man to run under 2:06 when he ran 2:05:23 in the men's marathon at the 2010 Rotterdam Marathon. He set his personal best of 2:04:52 in the marathon when he came in second place at the 2012 Chicago Marathon. He won the Dublin Marathon in 2009 in his debut race and then won the Xiamen International Marathon in 2010. Ayad Lamdassem (born October 11, 1981) is a Moroccan-born long distance runner who competes for Spain internationally. He has represented Spain twice in the 10,000 metres at the Summer Olympics (2008 and 2012) as well as the European Athletics Championships (2010, 2012).
