2011 FIA GT1 Algarve Round
The 2011 FIA GT1 Algarve round is an auto racing event held at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portimão, Portugal on 6–8 May 2011. The event is the third round of the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship season. FIA GT1 previously visited the Algarve circuit in autumn 2010, with drivers Peter Dumbreck and Michael Krumm of Sumo Power Nissan winning the Qualifying Race, and Michael Bartels and Andrea Bertolini of Vitaphone Maserati winning the Championship Race. The event is supported by the FIA GT3 European Championship, the Mini Challenge, and local Portuguese racing series. The race weekend was swept by Nissan, whose teams won pole position and both races. JR Motorsports' Richard Westbrook and Peter Dumbreck won pole on qualifying, while the rest of Nissan locked out the front two rows of the grid. Pole Position
In a motorsports race, the pole position is usually the best and "statistically the most advantageous" starting position on the track. The pole position is usually earned by the driver with the best qualifying times in the trials before the race. The number-one qualifying driver is also referred to as the pole-sitter. The pole position, pole sitter, starts the race "at the front of the starting grid. Selleslagh Racing Team
Selleslagh Racing Team (SRT) is a Belgian racing team, currently competing in the GT4 European Series. In the 2010 season the team competed under the Mad-Croc Racing banner, the result of a collaboration between SRT and DKR Engineering of Luxembourg. For 2011 the two teams split to form two separate entries into the championship. In 2011 the team concluded the season with a win in the last race. After this they started working in the background. Swiss Racing Team
Swiss Racing Team (SRT) is an auto racing team based in Inwil, Lucerne, Switzerland. Formed by Othmar Welti and Erich Kolb in 2000, Swiss Racing Team initially competed in the German Formula Three Championship before also joining the Formula Three Euroseries from 2003 to 2004. Frédéric Vervisch won the German Championship in 2008 earning SRT their only championship. In 2007 the team also explored grand tourer racing, providing technical aid to Jetalliance Racing and KplusK Motorsport in the FIA GT Championship. Hexis Racing is an auto racing team based in Lédenon, France. Hexis Racing was founded by Michel Mateu, CEO of Hexis S.A. in 2001, initially for participation in the French Formula Renault Championship. Hexis later moved into grand tourer racing in 2005, participating in the FFSA GT Championship before joining the FIA GT3 European Championship in 2007. Fischer Racing GmbH is an auto racing team founded by Erhard Fischer in 2006 and based in Paderborn, Germany. Initially created to compete in the German SEAT León Supercopa, the team expanded in 2009, purchasing Ford GTs to compete in the German ADAC GT Masters series as well as the FIA GT3 European Championship. During their 2009 European Championship campaign Fischer Racing's Florian Gruber and Christoffer Nygaard won the second race at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben. Stefan Mücke (born 22 November 1981) is a German professional racing driver. Racing career Born in Berlin, Mücke started his racing career in 1998, when he won the Formula BMW ADAC series, with his father's Mücke Motorsport team, also making their debut. He competed in German Formula Three for his father's team for the next three years, before moving to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters for 2002. He raced Mercedes for Team Rosberg, Persson Motorsport and Mücke Motorsport in his four years in the series. Darren Turner (born 13 April 1974) is a British professional racing driver and owner of Base Performance Simulators. He races for Aston Martin Racing as a Factory-backed, factory driver and also works as a high performance test driver for Aston Martin. Jamie Campbell-Walter is a British professional racing driver. He was born in Oban, Scotland on 16 December 1972.
