2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships
The Men's 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships was held in Ankara, Turkey from June 17 to June 24, 2011. It was the 39th edition of this biennial competition organised by the European governing body for amateur boxing, the EUBC. Schedule From 17 June–19 June the preliminaries were held, on June 20–21 the quarterfinals in all categories were held. The semifinals took place on June 23 with the finals at June 24. Seventeen-year-old Salman Alizadeh from Azerbaijan became the youngest gold medal winner in the European Boxing Championships since Mario Bianchini in 1930. Veaceslav Gojan (born 18 May 1983) is a Moldovan amateur boxer who won Bantamweight bronze at the 2008 Olympics. He comes from the village of Grimăncăuţi, district of Briceni (north of Moldova) and is a member of the Central Sport Club Dinamo in Chişinău. His coach is Petru Caduc. Career Gojan failed to qualify for the 2004 Summer Olympics after ending up in third place at the 4th AIBA European 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan. He qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics by beating German boxer Rustamhodza Rahimov in the semifinal of a European qualifying tournament. Mahamed Nurudzinau
Magomed Nurutdinov/Mahamed Nurudzinau (born February 5, 1982) is a Belarusian amateur boxer who boxed at the Olympics 2008 at welterweight and later became European champion. At the 2005 World Championships he beat Konstantin Buga, Adam Trupish and Neil Perkins but lost the final to Cuban Erislandi Lara. At the 2006 European Championships he was edged out by little-known Zoran Mitrovic, at the 2007 World Championships he won two bouts then was outclassed 6:26 by local hero and eventual winner Demetrius Andrade. Fred Evans (boxer)
Freddie William Evans (born 4 February 1991) is a British professional boxer fighting in the 69 kg welterweight category. As an amateur, he won gold at the 2007 World Cadet Championships in Hungary and won gold for Wales at the 2011 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Ankara. He was the first Welsh boxer to achieve the feat in 86 years. Evans won Olympic silver for Great Britain in the welterweight division, losing in the final to Kazakh boxer Serik Sapiyev. His achievement made him the most successful Welsh boxer in Olympic history, surpassing the record of Ralph Evans at the 1972 Summer Olympics. He turned professional in 2015. Raymond Peter Moylette (born 11 April 1990), sometimes spelled Moylett, is an Irish professional boxer. As an amateur he represented Ireland, winning gold medals at the 2008 Youth World Championships and 2011 European Championships.
