2011 DFL-Supercup
The 2011 DFL-Supercup was the second DFL-Supercup, an annual football match contested by the winners of the previous season's Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal competitions. It was a Revierderby between 2010–11 Bundesliga winners Borussia Dortmund, and 2010–11 DFB-Pokal winners Schalke 04. The match was played at Gelsenkirchen on 23 July 2011. Schalke 04 prevailed on penalties, following a scoreless match after 90 minutes. There was no extra time Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. Ralf Fährmann
Ralf Fährmann (; born 27 September 1988) is a German professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for 2. Bundesliga club Schalke 04. Club career Fährmann made his professional debut for Schalke 04 on 13 September 2008 in 3–3 draw away to Borussia Dortmund. On 16 September 2008, he played his first international match, against APOEL in a UEFA Cup tie. At the end of the 2008–09 season, he left Schalke and moved to Eintracht Frankfurt on free transfer, signing a contract valid to 30 June 2012. Fährmann returned to Schalke in 2011 after the team sold Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich. In the 2011 DFL-Supercup, Fährmann was named Man of the Match. Ivan Perišić (; born 2 February 1989) is a Croatian professional footballer who plays for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the Croatia national team. Usually deployed as a winger, he has also featured as an attacking midfielder, second striker, or wing-back. Kevin Großkreutz (born 19 July 1988) is a German former professional footballer who plays as a right back and winger for TuS Bövinghausen in the amateur-level Oberliga Westfalen. İlkay Gündoğan (born 24 October 1990) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Manchester City and the Germany national team. José Manuel Jurado Marín (born 29 June 1986) is a Spanish former professional footballer who played as a central midfielder. He played for both major teams in Madrid during his career, Real and Atlético, albeit with no success for the former. Benedikt Höwedes (born 29 February 1988) is a German former professional footballer who played as a defender. He spent the majority of his playing career for Schalke 04, which he captained for six seasons, and represented the Germany national football team from 2011 to 2017. Lewis Harry Holtby (born 18 September 1990) is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Holstein Kiel. Holtby began his professional career with Alemannia Aachen before signing for Schalke 04 two years later.
