The 2011 Carlton Football Club season was the Carlton Football Club's 148th season of competition, and 115th as a member of the Australian Football League. Carlton finished 5th out of 17 teams in the 2011 AFL season with a win-loss record of 14–7–1, ultimately eliminated after a three-point semi-final loss against West Coast. The Australian Football League stages the highest-level senior Australian rules football competition in the country. However, there has not been a league-wide Reserves competition since 1987, when the then-Victorian Football League expanded interstate to become the modern Australian Football League, with the AFL Reserves competition being shut down at the end of the 1999 season. Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are a professional Australian rules football team that competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), the sport's premier competition. Brett Montgomery
Brett Montgomery (born 1 June 1973) is a retired Australian rules football player and current assistant coach with the Port Adelaide Football Club. Early life Montgomery, known as "Monty", was originally recruited from South Croydon, and was recruited by Essendon Football Club (U19's & reserves) but was dropped from their list in 1991. Montgomery was also a talented cricketer, and had captained the under-19s Victorian team. In 1992 and 1993 he played club cricket in the Durham League and Middlesex League in England, before returning to Australia to refresh his Australian rules football career. He played with VFL side Springvale, playing in a premiership, then being picked up by Footscray, on their supplementary list. Matthew Lappin
Matthew Lappin (born 17 February 1976) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the St Kilda Football Club and the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He currently serves as an AFL coach for the JLC aHillcrest Christian CollegeQueensland. Debuting with St Kilda in 1994, Lappin was known as a half-back flanker. Lappin played in 17 of 22 matches in the 1997 season home and away rounds in which St Kilda qualified in first position for the 1997 Finals Series, winning the club's 2nd minor premiership and 1st McClelland Trophy. At the end of the 1998 season, Lappin moved to Carlton. Simon Wiggins
Simon Wiggins (born 11 September 1982) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was recruited as the number 15 draft pick in the 2000 AFL Draft from Glenorchy. He made his debut for the Carlton Football Club in Round 5, 2001 against St Kilda. Wiggins has battled with injury and form at his time at Carlton. He only played six games in his debut season, and has never managed to play a full season since suffering knee, shoulder and hamstring injuries as well as some slumps in form. He broke into the Blues' lineup for the last month of the 2005 season. Heath Scotland (born 21 July 1980) is a former Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League. He played for Collingwood and Carlton, appearing in two AFL Grand Finals during his time with Collingwood. He was awarded the Best and Fairest for the Carlton Football Club in 2012. Jordan Russell (born 6 November 1986) is an Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club and the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League. Russell was recruited as the number 9 draft pick in the 2004 AFL Draft from West Adelaide. Bryce Gibbs (Australian Rules Footballer)
Bryce Gibbs (born 15 March 1989) is a retired professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club and the Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Pre-AFL Gibbs was an exceptional youth talent, which led to much speculation about his ultimate AFL drafting. In 2004 he won Glenelg's Under 17s best and fairest award, despite spending part of the season playing SANFL reserve grade. Andrew Carrazzo (born 15 December 1983) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Michael Jamison (born 11 June 1986) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Jamison is a key defender, particularly good against leading players, who has played for several years at the North Ballarat Football Club, with his under-18s football at the North Ballarat Rebels, and then reserves and seniors with the Roosters. Jamison was invited to train with the Carlton Football Club in the 2006/07 offseason, presumably on advice from Carlton assistant coach and outgoing Roosters head coach Gavin Crosisca.
