2011 AFL Season
The 2011 AFL season was the 115th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured seventeen clubs, with the newly established Gold Coast Suns, based in Gold Coast, Queensland, playing its inaugural season. The season ran from 24 March until 1 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. The premiership was won by the Geelong Football Club for the ninth time, after it defeated by 38 points in the 2011 AFL Grand Final. 2011 AFL Grand Final
The 2011 AFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Collingwood Football Club and the Geelong Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 1 October 2011. It was the 116th annual grand final of the Australian Football League (formerly the Victorian Football League), staged to determine the premiers for the 2011 AFL season. Simon Buckley
Simon Buckley (born 18 April 1987) is a retired Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He played for Melbourne Football Club from 2006 to 2009. He was drafted to Collingwood with 85th pick in 2009 AFL Draft but was delisted in 2012. Career Taken at pick 53 in the 2005 AFL Draft, Buckley was recruited from the Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup club. The 190 cm, 90 kg midfielder debuted in Round 14 (8 July) of the 2007 AFL season against Carlton Football Club and kicked his first league goal in Round 16. Kyle Hardingham
Kyle Hardingham (born 1 September 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Hardingham was selected by Essendon with the seventh pick in the 2010 AFL Pre-Season Draft. Originally from East Fremantle in the WAFL, he represented Western Australia in the state game against South Australia in 2009. He made his AFL debut against North Melbourne in round 17 of the 2010 AFL season, kicking four goals, helping Essendon achieve an upset victory by 3 points. Heath Hocking
Heath Hocking (born 27 December 1987) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Mooroolbark, he was drafted by Essendon with the 20th selection in the 2006 rookie draft from Eastern Ranges in TAC Cup. He was elevated to the main list in 2007, playing one game late in the 2007 season. Hocking is a solid and hard-at-it midfielder, who primarily plays a defensive tagging role on opposition midfielders. David Zaharakis (born 21 February 1990) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Angus Monfries (born 19 January 1987) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club and Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Michael Hurley (born 1 June 1990) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Docklands Stadium, also currently known by naming rights sponsorship as Marvel Stadium, is a multi-purpose sports and entertainment stadium in the Docklands area of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
