2011 AFL Grand Final
The 2011 AFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Collingwood Football Club and the Geelong Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on 1 October 2011. It was the 116th annual grand final of the Australian Football League (formerly the Victorian Football League), staged to determine the premiers for the 2011 AFL season. The match, attended by 99,537 spectators, was won by Geelong by a margin of 38 points, marking the club's ninth VFL/AFL premiership victory. The Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) was a First World War army corps of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. It was formed in Egypt in December 1914, and operated during the Gallipoli campaign. Mark Howard (journalist)
Mark Richard Howard is an Australian television presenter and journalist with Fox Sports after hosting, presenting and reporting at various events on Ten Sport for over a decade. Howard joined Network Ten in 2005, employed for the network's award-winning V8 Supercar coverage for two years. In 2008, Howard joined Network Ten's AFL team as a boundary rider; during this time he covered the 100th goal in a season by Hawthorn's Lance Franklin and co-hosted the 2008 Brownlow Medal "Red Carpet" for the network. Norm Smith Medal
The Norm Smith Medal is an Australian rules football award presented annually to the player adjudged the best on ground in the Grand Final of the Australian Football League (AFL). Prior to 1990 the competition was known as the Victorian Football League (VFL). It was first presented in the 1979 VFL Grand Final, and was won by Wayne Harmes, playing in Carlton's premiership victory against Collingwood. The award is named in honour of Norm Smith who won four VFL premierships as a player and six as coach for the Melbourne Football Club. Dustin Martin ( 2017, 2019 and 2020) is the only player to win the award three times. The 2011 AFL season was the 115th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured seventeen clubs, with the newly established Gold Coast Suns, based in Gold Coast, Queensland, playing its inaugural season.
