2010–11 Women's National Cricket League Season
The 2010–11 Women's National Cricket League season was the 15th season of the Women's National Cricket League, the women's domestic limited overs cricket competition in Australia. The tournament started on 16 October 2010 and finished on 12 February 2011. The season saw the addition of Tasmanian Roar, taking the number of teams up to seven. Defending champions New South Wales Breakers won the tournament for the 13th time after topping the ladder at the conclusion of the round-robin phase and beating Victorian Spirit in the final. Cricket Australia
Cricket Australia (CA), formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. It was originally formed in 1905 as the 'Australian Board of Control for International Cricket'. It is incorporated as an Australian Public Company, limited by guarantee. Geelong Cricket Club
The Geelong Cricket Club was originally formed as a Sub-District side to keep the ‘VCA fires burning’, entering the VSDCA in 1964/65, before making its debut as an amalgamated side with North Melbourne Cricket Club in 1985/86. This joint venture lasted for three seasons before disbanding, with North Melbourne continuing in the association on its own. Geelong was re-admitted as a single entity prior to the 1993/94 season with Michael King as Club President, and former North Melbourne, St. Kilda, South Melbourne and Victorian Shield representative Peter Cox as the Inaugural First XI Captain. The club originally used the St. Mary's Football Club rooms as its headquarters during the season before the move to the current location on Geelong Cricket Ground in January 1996. Bellerive Oval, known commercially as Blundstone Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a cricket and Australian rules football ground located in Bellerive, a suburb on the eastern shore of Hobart, Australia, holding 20,000 people it is the largest capacity stadium in Tasmania. It is the only venue in Tasmania which hosts international cricket matches. The venue is the home ground for the state cricket teams, the Tasmanian Tigers and Hobart Hurricanes, as well as a venue for international Test matches since 1989 and one-day matches since 1988. The Adelaide Park Lands are the figure-eight of land spanning both banks of the River Torrens between Hackney and Thebarton and separating the City of Adelaide area (which includes both Adelaide city centre and North Adelaide) from the surrounding suburbia of greater metropolitan Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. The Brisbane Cricket Ground, commonly known as the Gabba, is a major sports stadium in Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, Australia.
