2010–11 West Virginia Mountaineers Men's Basketball Team
The 2010–11 West Virginia Mountaineers men's basketball team represented West Virginia University in the 2010-11 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. They were coached by Bob Huggins and played their home games at the WVU Coliseum. They lost in the 2nd round by Marquette in the 2011 Big East men's basketball tournament. They were invited to the 2011 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament. They defeated Clemson in the second round before losing to Kentucky in the third round. Big East Conference (1979–2013)
The Big East Conference was a collegiate athletics conference that consisted of as many as 16 universities in the eastern half of the United States from 1979 to 2013. The conference's members participated in 24 NCAA sports. The conference had a history of success at the national level in basketball throughout its history, while its shorter (1991 to 2013) football program, created by inviting one college and four other "associate members" (their football programs only) into the conference, resulted in two national championships. In basketball, Big East teams made 18 Final Four appearances and won 7 NCAA championships as Big East members through 2013 (UConn with three, Georgetown, Syracuse, Louisville and Villanova with one each). Joe Mazzulla
Joseph Mazzulla (born June 30, 1988) is an American professional basketball coach who is the head coach for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played college basketball for West Virginia University. High school career Mazzulla attended Bishop Hendricken High School in Rhode Island, where he made the all-state first team. He won three state titles at Bishop Hendricken, with his third as a senior on a last-second shot. College career As a freshman at West Virginia, Mazzulla helped the team win the 2007 National Invitation Tournament under coach John Beilein.
