2010–11 San Jose Sharks Season
The 2010–11 San Jose Sharks season was the team's' 20th season in the National Hockey League (NHL). Off-season Team captain Rob Blake retired on June 18, 2010. The Sharks announced that they would not offer Evgeni Nabokov a contract for the 2010–11 season. The Sharks re-signed centers Joe Pavelski and Patrick Marleau to four-year contracts on June 24, 2010. The Sharks re-signed defenseman Niclas Wallin and center Scott Nichol to one-year contracts on June 26, 2010. Sharks signed free agent goaltender Antero Nittymaki to a two-year, $4 million contract on July 1, 2010, replacing long-time goaltender Evgeni Nabokov. Western Conference (NHL)
The Western Conference (french: Conférence de l'Ouest) is one of two conferences in the National Hockey League (NHL) used to divide teams. Its counterpart is the Eastern Conference. History Originally named the Clarence Campbell Conference (or Campbell Conference for short), it was created in 1974 when the NHL realigned its teams into two conferences and four divisions. Because the new conferences and divisions had little to do with North American geography, geographical references were removed. The conferences and divisions were re-aligned in 1981 to better reflect the geographical locations of the teams, but the existing names were retained with the Campbell Conference becoming the conference for the NHL's westernmost teams. The names of conferences and divisions were changed in 1993 to reflect their geographic locations. Joe Pavelski
Joseph James Pavelski (born July 11, 1984) is an American professional ice hockey player and alternate captain for the Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played for the San Jose Sharks for the first thirteen years of his NHL career and served as captain during his final four years with the team. He attended University of Wisconsin and played for the Wisconsin Badgers men's ice hockey team. Nicknamed "Little Joe" and "Captain America", Pavelski scored a goal in his first NHL game, making him the 11th Sharks player in the history of the team to do so. He holds the record for most playoff goals by an American-born player, with 64. Devin Setoguchi
Devin Setoguchi (born January 1, 1987) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey right winger. He had most recently played under contract for Adler Mannheim in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Setoguchi is half- Yonsei (fourth-generation) Japanese Canadian and a Sports California/Sharks Playoff Live TV Analyst. He was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the first round, eighth overall, in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft and has also played with the Minnesota Wild, Winnipeg Jets, and Calgary Flames. John McCarthy (ice Hockey)
John McCarthy (born August 9, 1986) is an American ice hockey coach and former left winger who currently is the head coach for the San Jose Barracuda in the American Hockey League (AHL). He formerly played with the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Playing career McCarthy played the 2004–05 season with the Des Moines Buccaneers of the United States Hockey League. He then played collegiate hockey with Boston University in the Hockey East before he was drafted by the San Jose Sharks, 202nd overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Mike Moore (ice Hockey)
Michael Kenneth Moore (born December 12, 1984) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman for the Fischtown Pinguins of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL). Playing career Undrafted, Moore was signed by the San Jose Sharks to an entry-level contract. Moore scored his first NHL goal on November 17, 2010 against goaltender Peter Budaj of the Colorado Avalanche in just his second NHL game. Dany Heatley
Daniel "Dany" James Heatley (born January 21, 1981) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey winger. Originally drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers second overall in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, he won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the National Hockey League (NHL) rookie of the year in 2002. However, Heatley's time with the Thrashers was derailed when he was at the wheel in a car crash in September 2003 that killed his teammate Dan Snyder. Thomas Wingels (born April 12, 1988) is an American former professional ice hockey forward. He played most of his career in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the San Jose Sharks, the Ottawa Senators, the Chicago Blackhawks and the Boston Bruins and retired after two seasons in the National League (NL) with Genève-Servette HC. Logan Couture (born March 28, 1989) is a Canadian professional ice hockey centre and captain of the San Jose Sharks of the National Hockey League (NHL). Thomas Greiss (born 29 January 1986) is a German professional ice hockey goaltender for the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League (NHL). Selected 94th overall in the third round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the San Jose Sharks, he has also played for the Phoenix Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, New York Islanders and Detroit Red Wings during his NHL career. Harri Säteri
Harri Säteri (born 29 December 1989) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender, currently playing with EHC Biel in the National League (NL). Although drafted in 2008 by the San Jose Sharks, he did not play in an NHL game until nearly a decade later as a member of the Florida Panthers. Playing career Säteri's first full season at the senior level was 2008–09, when he played in 22 matches for Tappara in the SM-liiga.
