Norwegian Television
Television in Norway was Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1954, but the first television program was only shown in 1958, and regular broadcasts did not start until 1960. Like Denmark, Norway had only one television channel until the 1980s. Some 40% of the population have Cable television, cable TV, and 30% have Satellite television, satellite TV. Another 30% have terrestrial television only. In Norway, all advertising containing political messages and advertising aimed at children are prohibited. Channels such as TV3 (Norway), TV3 are allowed to broadcast commercial breaks, as these channels are being broadcast via satellite from the United Kingdom. ''The X Factor'' is a television music competition franchise created by British producer Simon Cowell and his company Syco Entertainment. Viasat 3D
Viasat 3D was the first Swedish 3D TV channel and was launched on 27 December 2010. The channel was available to satellite subscribers through Viasat's digital on-demand set-top box and featured live football matches from UEFA Champions League, as well as streamed 3D video on demand movie content. History Viasat started to offer 3D TV content as of December 2010, rolling out its full linear 3D TV channel in August 2012. Max is a Norwegian television channel designed for a mostly male audience. The first program on Max was the movie ''Wild Hogs'', followed by the premiere of ''Breaking Bad''. Cartoonito is a Nordic/Scandinavian children's television channel owned by the EMEA sub-division of the international division of Warner Bros. Discovery. Cartoonito was previously the feed of Boomerang, until it relaunched in 2023. History Beginnings as Boomerang In late 2005, Turner Broadcasting System Europe reported that they had intended to launch Boomerang in the Nordic region. They had also applied to broadcast it in the Swedish digital terrestrial network in the fall of that year. Boomerang was, however, not granted a license by the Swedish government at the time. Nick Jr. (known on-air as the Nick Jr. Channel) is an American pay television channel spun off from Nickelodeon's long-running programming block of the same name. It is run by Paramount Global through its networks division's Kids and Family Group. The channel launched on September 28, 2009, and primarily targets preschoolers. Its lineup features a mix of originally-produced programming, along with series from the Nickelodeon weekday block; because of the two entities, Nick Jr. is known on-air as "the Nick Jr. Channel" (as of March 2018) to avoid confusion, especially at times of day where both services are carrying preschool programming.
