2010 Zolder Superleague Formula Round
The 2010 Zolder Superleague Formula round was a Superleague Formula round held on July 18, 2010, at Circuit Zolder, Heusden-Zolder, Belgium. It was the third year in a row that Superleague Formula visited the Zolder circuit, making it the only circuit to feature on the calendar every year until 2010. It was the sixth round of the 2010 Superleague Formula season. Seventeen clubs took part including Belgian club R.S.C. Anderlecht. Olympique Lyonnais skipped the round after parting company with driver Sébastien Bourdais. Tristan Gommendy (born 4 January 1979) is a French professional racing driver who currently competes in the European Le Mans Series with Duqueine Engineering. Racing career Early career Born in Le Chesnay, Yvelines, Gommendy began his professional career in French Formula Three in 2000. The Supercar Challenge is a motor racing series centered on the Benelux. A special feature is that touring cars, GTs and Sportscars can all participate on an equal basis within the same class, enabled by very open regulations. The championship was first held in 2001, after replacing the Supercar Cup. From 2001 to 2011 the championship was called the Dutch Supercar Challenge, but due to interest from drivers, teams and tracks outside the Netherlands the organisers decided to drop 'Dutch' from its name on 11 February 2012. 2010 Superleague Formula Season
The 2010 Superleague Formula season was the third Superleague Formula championship. The series was rebranded "Superleague Formula by Sonangol", due to a two-year deal that began in the previous season. The first race of the season was on 4 April at Silverstone and it finished on 24 October at Navarra after a series record of 12 race weekends in all. The series' prize fund was increased to €5 million, with the championship-winning team winning €1 million. Superleague Formula was an open wheel single seater motor racing formula, which started in 2008, at Donington Park in the United Kingdom. The league introduced team sponsorship by association football clubs. It used the slogan 'The Beautiful Race: Football at 300 km/h'. By 2011 the link with football was fading with more than half the teams no longer associated with football teams. It was founded by businessmen Alex Andreu and Robin Webb.
