Great Yarmouth
Great Yarmouth (), often called Yarmouth, is a seaside town and unparished area in, and the main administrative centre of, the Borough of Great Yarmouth in Norfolk, England; it straddles the River Yare and is located east of Norwich. Hiren Bhartu
Hirendra Bhartu (born May 14, 1958) is a Canadian professional indoor and lawn bowling, lawn bowler from Suva, Fiji. He has won nine Canadian national titles in Men's Singles and Pairs as well as Mixed Pairs. Bowls career Hirendra began his lawn bowling career at Nanaimo Lawn Bowling Club in 1995. In 2006, after honing his talent for indoor bowls at the Pacific Indoor Club in Vancouver, BC, he catapulted onto the international lawn bowling scene by soundly defeating his Canadian counterparts in all 4 of the Canadian PBA qualifiers in order to play in the World Bowls Tour. Timothy John Stone, CBE (born 1951) is a British businessman and senior expert adviser with interests in infrastructure, finance, nuclear power and water supply. Ben Twist (born 1 June 1990) is an Australian international lawn bowler. Bowls career He started bowling in 2003 and his first success was the Queensland state triples in 2007. He won the Australian Open triples in 2010 and made his international debut in 2018. Twist became the Australian national champion after winning the 2019 Australian National Bowls Championships triples title. In 2018, he won the Hong Kong International Bowls Classic singles title, having previously won the pairs with Jesse Noronha in 2017. Ian John Bond (born 8 June 1973) is an English international lawn and indoor bowler. Bond plays for the Exonia indoor bowls club and the Crediton outdoor bowls club. Leslie John Gillett (born 17 November 1970) is an English international indoor and lawn bowls player. He is nicknamed Razor. Bowls career Indoor career Gillett won the 2001 World Indoor Bowls Championship pairs title in Great Yarmouth with bowls partner Mark McMahon. Sixteen years later he won his second title when he won the Open pairs with Jason Greenslade at the 2017 World Indoor Bowls Championship in Great Yarmouth. At the 2022 World Indoor Bowls Championship, Gillett (as the sixth seed) finally won the Open singles title after defeating five-time champion Paul Foster in a tie-break set in the final. Paul James Foster (born 13 March 1973) is a multiple world bowls champion who lives in Troon, Scotland. He plays at Troon Portland (Outdoor) & Ambassador Prestwick (Indoor) bowling clubs. Bowling career Indoor career Foster is the second most prolific winner of the World Indoor Championship singles title, behind six-times winner, pairs partner and close friend Alex Marshall. Steve Glasson
Stephen John Glasson OAM (born 10 April 1969) is an Australian bowls player. He was number one in the world in 2004 and was ranked first in Australia between 1997 and 2005. He is currently the Australian national bowls coach. Early life Glasson was born in Sydney, New South Wales in 1969. His father, Bob Glasson was a former Queensland bowls representative. Glasson took up bowls as a young child in the mid-1970s. While working as a bank teller as a teenager, his bank was held up. He decided to change jobs, becoming an apprentice greenkeeper at a bowls club. Mervyn John King (born 4 January 1966, in King's Lynn) is an international lawn and indoor bowler from Fakenham. Bowls career King has represented England at three Commonwealth Games, the 2002, 2006 and the 2010 Commonwealth Games where he won a silver medal, with Stuart Airey, in the men's pairs competition.
