2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships
The 2010 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships was held at the Rotterdam Ahoy indoor sporting arena in the Netherlands from 16 to 24 October 2010. In this year's championships, there was a total of 73 participating federations with 615 gymnasts (343 men and 272 women). 53 men's and 44 women's teams competed. Rotterdam Ahoy
Rotterdam Ahoy (formerly known as Ahoy Rotterdam or simply as Ahoy) is a convention centre and multi-purpose indoor arena located in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Opened originally in 1950, the current complex consists of three main venues: a fairs and event hall, a congress and conference centre, and the Ahoy Arena. Kazuhito Tanaka
is a Japanese gymnast, Olympic silver and 3-time World medalist. Younger siblings, sister Rie Tanaka and brother Yusuke Tanaka, are both professional gymnasts. Tanaka's first major international competition was the 2009 World Championships, where he qualified 10th to the individual all-around with a score of 86.650. In the final, he placed fourth with a score of 88.300, a tenth of a point behind third place. He won the bronze medal in the parallel bars final, scoring 15.500. Koji Yamamuro
is a Japanese gymnast. He has won two Olympic medals in the men's artistic team all-around – silver in 2012 (London) and gold in 2016 (Rio de Janeiro). Career Yamamuro won the bronze medal in men's all-around at the 2011 World Championships. Yamamuro competed for the national team at the 2012 Summer Olympics in the Men's artistic team all-around. In the team final, he injured his ankle on the vault event, and had to be helped off. He had qualified for the individual all-around final, but due to the injury was unable to compete. This gave a chance for his teammate Kazuhito Tanaka to compete - he had ranked behind Yamamuro and Kōhei Uchimura and had not qualified due to the 2-per-country rule. Kōhei Uchimura
is a retired Japanese artistic gymnast. He is a seven-time Olympic medalist (all-around, team and floor exercise), winning three golds and four silvers, and a twenty-one-time World medalist (all-around, team, floor exercise, horizontal bar, and parallel bars).
