2010 Qantas Film And Television Awards
The 2010 Qantas Film and Television Awards were held on Saturday 18 September at the Civic Theatre in Auckland, New Zealand. The craft awards were presented in a separate awards lunch at the Auckland Town Hall on Friday 17 September. It was the final of the Qantas Film and Television Awards, before Qantas was lost as the naming-rights sponsor and the awards were renamed the Aotearoa Film and Television Awards. The awards are best remembered for the expletive-filled acceptance speech given by '' Breakfast'' presenter Paul Henry upon winning the People's Choice Award. Joanne Mitchell
Joanne Mitchell (born 30 July 1971) is an English film, stage and TV actress. In 2011 she co-founded Mitchell Brunt Films with husband and Emmerdale colleague Dominic Brunt and has worked as producer/writer on several of the company's films. Career Mitchell trained at The Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, where she met future husband Dominic Brunt. Pānia Papa
Pānia Christine Papa (born 30 May 1970) is a former netball player who played on two occasions for the New Zealand national netball team. She is now an advocate for the preservation of ''te reo Māori'', the language of the Māori people, the indigenous population of New Zealand. In this capacity, she has been a frequent presenter on Māori Television, a writer and translator of books, particularly for children, and a university lecturer. Early life Papa was born on 30 May 1970. Her father, Tioriori Papa, was a Māori whose family came from Taharoa and Kāwhia in the Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island. Ben Boyce
Ben Boyce is a New Zealand television and radio personality and comedian best known as the host of TV shows ''Pulp Sport'', '' WANNA-BEn'' and ''Jono and Ben'' on TV3. Biography Boyce is a graduate of the New Zealand Broadcasting School at CPIT (now Ara Institute of Canterbury). He was also the co-founder of New Zealand political party the Bill and Ben Party, which ran for government in the 2008 New Zealand general election and received over 13,000 votes, making it New Zealand's ninth most popular political party (out of 19). Boyce started out writing radio commercials, such as the popular Novus Windscreens "Show Us Your Crack" jingle. Jamie Linehan
The Bill and Ben Party was a New Zealand joke political party formed in 2008 and voluntarily deregistered in 2010. The party's leaders were Jamie Linehan and Ben Boyce ("Bill" and Ben) of the TV3 satirical sports show ''Pulp Sport''. In the 2008 general election the party secured 0.56% of the vote, outpolling every other party not in parliament prior to the election (New Zealand First, a party in parliament prior to the election, failed to gain representation in the subsequent parliament). It gained the ninth-highest number of votes out of the 19 parties standing for election. ''Pulp Sport'' was a New Zealand television show that mixed sport with various styles of comedy. The hosts Jamie Linehan and Ben Boyce acted under their respective pseudonyms Bill and Ben, performing a half-hour of various sports based skits. They were usually accompanied by an anthropomorphic fox mascot. History ''Pulp Sport'' started as a radio show on Radio Sport in 2001, and ran until the TV series began in 2003 on SKY Sport Syndication and also C4 where it achieved strong ratings. ''7 Days'' is a New Zealand comedy gameshow similar in some ways to the British program ''Mock the Week'', hosted by Jeremy Corbett and created by thedownlowconcept. Paul Ego and Dai Henwood usually appear on each episode, along with other comedians, who form teams and answer questions about stories from the last week. Show format At the start of each show, Jeremy Corbett announces a content warning, saying "the following show is for adults only and contains bad language that may offend some people". ''Outrageous Fortune'' is a New Zealand family comedy crime drama television series, which ran from 12 July 2005 to 9 November 2010 on TV3. The series followed the lives of the career criminal West family after the matriarch, Cheryl (Robyn Malcolm), decided the family should go straight and abide by the law. 20/20 is a New Zealand documentary television programme hosted by Carolyn Robinson, and based on the American Broadcasting Company programme of the same name. Between 1993 and 2014, the show contained a mix of locally produced and American content. The show now presents stories largely produced by its American counterpart, with a local presenter providing context at the beginning. The show uses the same graphics and theme music as the American version. From 1993 until 2003, the show was broadcast on Three, and was hosted by Louise Wallace.
