2010 FAI Cup Final
The 2010 FAI Cup Final was the final match of the 2010 FAI Cup competition and was contested by Sligo Rovers and Shamrock Rovers at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 14 November 2010. Shamrock Rovers were looking to complete the double of League and cup after winning the 2010 League of Ireland. Sligo Rovers won the cup 2–0 on penalties. The final was the first to be staged at the new Aviva Stadium. The match was shown live on RTÉ television and online worldwide. Ticketing On 22 October 2010, the Football Association of Ireland announced that tickets for the final would go on sale to supporters at the discounted rates of €10 and €5 to mark the first FAI Ford Cup final at the Aviva Stadium. The 2010 FAI Senior Challenge Cup, also known as the 2010 FAI Ford Cup, is the 90th season of the national football competition of the Republic of Ireland. FAI Cup Final
The FAI Cup Final, known recently as the FAI Ford Cup Final for sponsorship reasons, is an annual soccer match which is the last game in the Football Association of Ireland Challenge Cup. It is the culmination of a knock-out competition among clubs belonging to the Football Association of Ireland, generally competed for by clubs from the Republic of Ireland, although representatives from Northern Ireland (most notably Derry City) have competed and even won the Cup. Shelbourne, Bohemians and Derry City are the only clubs to win both the (Northern) Irish Cup and the FAI Cup, although Shelbourne and Bohemians only won it before partition, whilst Derry City remained in the Northern Irish league system until 1973, entering the League of Ireland in 1985. Patrick Kavanagh (footballer, Born 1985)
Patrick Kavanagh (born 29 December 1985 in Dublin) is an Irish footballer who plays as a winger for League of Ireland Premier Division club Bohemians. Career Early career Kavanagh's first clubs were St Joseph's Boys and Ballybrack Boys, where his talent was soon spotted by scouts. He signed for League of Ireland club Bohemians in 2004 but his opportunities at the club were restricted to appearances in the Gypsies' Under 21 side. Following his brief stint at Bohemians, Kavanagh signed for Wayside Celtic and he became an instant hit, helping them win the FAI Intermediate Cup in his first season. A year later, they reached the top of the Leinster Senior League table and in the last round of games where there was a play-off to decide the champions. Chris Turner (footballer Born 1987)
Chris Turner (born 3 January 1987) is a Northern Irish footballer. He has been capped at under-19 and under-21 level by Northern Ireland. Club career Turner began his career at Derby County but moved to Ireland to join Sligo Rovers in December 2005 after the club returned to the top flight by winning the First Division title a month earlier. Turner helped Sligo to fifth position in their first season back in the big time and remained at the Showgrounds for the opening half of the 2007 season before signing for Bohemians in the July transfer window. At Dalymount Park, Turner made his club debut in an FAI Cup win over Malahide United on 19 August 2007. Pat Flynn (footballer)
Patrick Flynn (born 13 January 1985 in Dublin) is an Irish retired footballer. Career Flynn made his League of Ireland debut for Waterford United at St Patrick's Athletic on 10 March 2006. After 2 seasons at the Regional Sports Centre, he signed for Shamrock Rovers in December 2007. Flynn made his Rovers debut on the opening day of the 2008 season. He marked Cristiano Ronaldo on his debut for Real Madrid against Rovers in 2009. Gary Twigg (born 19 March 1984) is a Scottish former association footballer who played as a forward. Career Derby County Twigg began his career in 2000 with English club Derby County, having graduated through the youth system. He made his debut for Derby at the age of 17 as a striker in a Premier League match against Sunderland in May 2002, his only appearance that season. Gary McCabe
Gary McCabe (born 1 August 1988) is a retired Irish footballer who last played for Bray Wanderers as a winger. Career McCabe began his youth career at Leinster Senior League side Crumlin United. His impressive performances in the youth and intermediate ranks did not go unnoticed and attracted interest from a number of League of Ireland clubs. McCabe was eventually snapped up by Premier Division outfit Bray Wanderers for the 2007 season. Conor O'Grady (born 27 May 1980) is a former Irish footballer who last played for Ballinamallard United. For his home town club he was sent off in a 2009–10 UEFA Europa League tie against Albanian side Vllaznia. Alan Keane (soccer)
Alan Keane (born 23 September 1984) is a retired Irish footballer. Keane is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the back four, though his preferred position is right back. He has also been known to play on the wing. Career Galway United Keane made his début for Galway United towards the end of the 2005 season and was mostly was used as a right back in his time with the club.
