The 2010 European Senior Tour was the 19th season of the European Senior Tour, the professional golf tour for men aged 50 and above operated by the PGA European Tour. Boonchu Ruangkit won four events and the Order of Merit title. Boonchu Ruangkit
Boonchu Ruangkit (born 12 May 1956) is a Thai professional golfer who plays on the Champions Tour. Early life As a young man, Boonchu tried for a career in kick boxing, but he gave it up after being knocked out cold in his third bout. He made his mark in golf when he won the 1985 Australian Amateur. Professional career Boonchu turned professional in 1986. He has won five titles on the Asian Tour since its first modern season in 1995, and has several other victories to his name. He was the runner-up on the Asian Tour Order of Merit in 1995 and also made the top ten in 1998 and 2004. In the latter year he won the Thailand Open for the second time in his career at the age of 47. In 2006, Boonchu turned 50 and became eligible to play in senior tournaments. Bill Longmuir
William George Longmuir (born 10 June 1953) is a Scottish professional golfer. Personal life Longmuir was born in Thundersley, Essex, England to Scottish parents. Despite having lived in England all his life, he regards himself as Scottish and is classified as such for international competition. Longmuir now lives in Thundersley, England. He has four children. Professional career He turned professional in 1968 and played full-time on the European Tour from 1979 to 1993. He never won on tour but finished runner-up three times. He made the top 100 on the Order of Merit every year from 1976 to 1990. Although Longmuir started playing some events on the European Tour in 1976, he originally found more success on its offshoot tour, the Safari Circuit, in Africa. John Bland (golfer)
John Louis Bland (born 22 September 1945) is a South African professional golfer who has won more than thirty professional tournaments around the world. Bland was born in Johannesburg. Turning professional in 1969, he was a leading player on the Southern African Tour for over twenty years. He spent the northern summers playing on the European Tour, where he won twice. He was a more consistent contender than this tally might suggest, as he finished in the top-20 on the Order of Merit six times. After reaching the age of fifty in 1995, Bland played mainly on the United States-based Champions Tour. Marc Farry
Marc-Antoine Farry (born 3 July 1959) is a French professional golfer. Farry was born in Paris, and started playing golf at the age of seven. He turned professional in 1979, and spent his early career as a teaching professional in Florida, United States. Farry was a full member of the European Tour from 1989 to 2004. He has won 16 tournaments on the French domestic tour, including the 1985 and 2000 French PGA Championships, but has only one win to his name on the European Tour, the 1996 BMW International Open, which was reduced to 36 holes because of rain. His best finish on the European Tour Order of Merit was 49th in 1999. The Irish Senior Open is the Irish stop on men's golf's European Senior Tour. It was played from 1997 to 2010 and was contested at several different courses around Ireland. From 1997 to 2007 it was sponsored by Allied Irish Banks. In 2021, the tournament was revived as the Irish Legends and was presented by Paul McGinley's foundation. Gordon Brand Jnr
Gordon Brand Jnr (19 August 1958 – 31 July 2019) was a Scottish professional golfer. He played on the European Tour, winning eight times, and later the European Senior Tour, winning twice. He played in the 1979 Walker Cup and played twice in the Ryder Cup, in 1987 and 1989. Early life and amateur career Brand was born in Kirkcaldy. His father, Gordon Brand Snr, was the club professional at Knowle Golf Club in Bristol from 1969 to 2001. Brand had a successful amateur career and played for Great Britain and Ireland in the 1979 Walker Cup and in the Eisenhower Trophy in 1978 and 1980. The Acorn Jersey Open was a men's senior (over 50) professional golf tournament on the European Senior Tour. It was held, under a number of different titles, from 1996 to 2010, before being played in 2015 and 2016 as the Acorn Jersey Open. It has always been played at La Moye Golf Club in Jersey. Senior Major Golf Championships
Men's professional senior golf is for players aged 50 and above. Golf differs from all other sports in having lucrative competitions for this age group. The leading senior tour is the U.S.-based PGA Tour Champions, which was established in 1980 (as the Senior PGA Tour). It has established a roster of five major championships. These events are all played over four rounds, whereas other senior tournaments are generally played over three rounds—only one other current Champions Tour event, the limited-field and season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship, is played over four rounds. A golfer's performances can be quite variable from one round to the next, so playing an extra round increases the likelihood that the senior majors will be won by leading players.
