2010 Chicago Cubs Season
The 2010 Chicago Cubs season was the 139th season of the Chicago Cubs franchise, the 135th in the National League and the 95th at Wrigley Field. The Cubs finished fifth in the National League Central with a record of 75–87. The Cubs played 10 extra inning games during the season, the fewest of any MLB team in 2010. Off-season In December 2009, Florida Governor Charlie Crist met with Cubs president Crane Kenney, chairman Tom Ricketts and other team officials about possibly moving the Cubs' spring training and minor league facilities from Mesa to Naples. In January 2010, however, the city of Mesa approved an agreement that would have the Cubs remain in that city for spring training through 2035, with the city building a new $84 million stadium and training facility. National League Central
The National League Central is one of Major League Baseball's six divisions. This division was created in 1994, by moving two teams from the National League West (the Cincinnati Reds and the Houston Astros) and three teams from the National League East (the Chicago Cubs, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the St. Louis Cardinals). When the division was created in 1994, the Pirates were originally supposed to stay in the East while the Atlanta Braves were to be moved to the Central from the West. However, the Braves, wanting to form a natural rivalry with the expansion Florida Marlins, requested to remain in the East. Despite the Marlins offering to go to the Central, the Pirates instead gave up their spot in the East to the Braves. Since then, the Pirates have tried several times unsuccessfully to be placed back in the East. Judd Sirott
Judd Sirott (born January 1969) is an American sportscaster on WBZ-FM's coverage of the Boston Bruins where he replaced Dave Goucher as the radio voice of the Bruins starting with the 2017-18 season. He previously appeared on WGN-AM's broadcasts of the Chicago Blackhawks where he served as the pregame, intermission and post game host. During the November 12, 2022 Bruins vs. Buffalo Sabres game, Sirott coined the term "Den of Iniquity" in reference to the penalty box. He also has done work for the Chicago Cubs baseball, when his duties included play-by-play during the 5th inning, scoreboard updates for other MLB games throughout the broadcast, and hosting the pregame and postgame shows on WGN Radio. When the Cubs changed their flagship station to WBBM, Sirott did not make the move opting to stay with WGN. Jeffrey Michael Gray (born November 19, 1981) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox. Seattle Mariners, and Minnesota Twins. He graduated from Lafayette High School in Wildwood, Missouri and attended Southwest Missouri State University. Jacob Quirin Fox (born July 20, 1982) is an American former professional baseball utility player. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs, Oakland Athletics and Baltimore Orioles, and in the KBO League for the Hanwha Eagles. Aaron Wade Miles (born December 15, 1976) is an American former professional baseball second baseman. He played nine seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 2003 to 2011 for the Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Oakland Athletics (often referred to as the A's) are an American professional baseball team based in Oakland, California. Scott Maine (born February 2, 1985) is an American professional baseball relief pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball with the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians from 2010 to 2012. Aaron Heilman
Aaron Michael Heilman (born November 12, 1978) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Heilman was drafted by the New York Mets out of Notre Dame in 2001. He came up through the Mets system as a starting pitcher, but was converted to a relief pitcher in 2005. High school years Heilman was born in Logansport, Indiana and attended Logansport High School, where he was a letterman in baseball. As a senior, he was a team M.V.P. and an All-State selection.
