2010 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship Season
The 2010 Asia-Pacific Rally Championship season is an international rally championship sanctioned by the FIA. With four-time champion Cody Crocker no longer contesting the series, it was expected to be a more open championship, and so it has proven. After five rounds of the series 1999 champion Katsuhiko Taguchi holds a three-point lead over fellow Mitsubishi driver Gaurav Gill. Taguchi won the first event of the series at Malaysia and was first registered competitor home in Japan behind veteran campaigner Toshi Arai (Subaru), but disappointing rallies in New Zealand and Australia left his early lead vulnerable. Gill was second in Malaysia and collected the points for third in Japan. Gill broke through for a points win at the Rally of Queensland, finishing over two minutes behind overall event winner, Australian Rally Championship competitor, Simon Evans (Subaru). Asia-Pacific Rally Championship
The Asia-Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) is an international rally championship organized by the FIA encompassing rounds in Asia and Oceania. Group N cars dominated the championship for many years but in recent years cars built to R5 and S2000 regulations have tended to be the frontrunners. The championship was first held in 1988, created out of the successful expansion of the World Rally Championship into Asia and linking with the debut of Rally Australia and won by Japan's Kenjiro Shinozuka in a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4. Initially the championship had strong support from World Rally Championship teams, aided by more than half the calendar being WRC rallies and by Japanese manufacturers backing half of the front runners with Mazda, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Subaru all running front running teams. Rally Hokkaido
The Rally Hokkaido (ラリー北海道), is an international rally racing event held on the island of Hokkaidō in Japan. The rally was first held in 2002 as Japan's entry into the Asia-Pacific Rally Championship and Japan's return to international rallying. In 2004 the rally was promoted to World Championship status as the inaugural Rally Japan. The following year the World and Asia-Pacific rallies were split into separate rallies with both still being held in Hokkaido with Rally Japan as the WRC round, Rally Hokkaido as the APRC round. It has been throughout a Japan Rally Championship event as well. The event has been dominated by Subaru Imprezas with only one win taken by any other manufacturer. Rally Indonesia
Rally of Indonesia (also known as the Indonesia Rally) is the largest rallying event held in Indonesia. Currently part of the Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC), it has twice been incorporated into the World Rally Championship (WRC) calendar, in 1996 and 1997; a planned running in 1998 was cancelled due to political crisis that year. This rally is mostly held in North Sumatra, although it was also held several times in South Sumatra and South Sulawesi. The APRC event on 25–26 September 2010 was to be observed by the FIA as a candidate event for an inclusion to the WRC 2012 calendar, although ultimately neither event were held; the rally returned as a national event in 2013. Imbil is a rural town and locality in the Gympie Region, Queensland, Australia. In the , Imbil had a population of 924 people. Geography Imbil is in the Wide Bay–Burnett district in the Mary River valley, north of the state capital, Brisbane. History The town takes its name from the Imbil pastoral run which was named 1857 by the pastoralists Clement Francis Lawless and Paul Lawless. Rally Queensland
The International Rally of Queensland, known previously as Rally Queensland, is a rally racing event held in the Gympie Region of Queensland, Australia run by the Brisbane Sporting Car Club. The rally was based for most of its out of the state capital Brisbane but in more recent times has moved north along the coast to various centres in the Sunshine Coast area. The rally begins in Caloundra before moving inland to forest roads in near Imbil and Kandanga. The rally was first held in 1968 as part of the original Australian Rally Championship and has been part of the ARC ever since. With the end of the Rally of Canberra in 2008 and the Western Australian government ceasing its funding of Rally Australia in 2006 both the World and Asia-Pacific Rally Championships were both looking for new venues. Hayden Paddon
Hayden Paddon (born 20 April 1987) is a New Zealand rally driver. He was PWRC world champion in 2011 and won the New Zealand Rally Championship in 2008, 2009, 2013, 2018 and 2021. Career Paddon was introduced into motorsport at an early age, his father Chris being a rally driver, beginning his career competing in karting. He competed in his first rally in 2002, at the age of 15. In 2005, he rolled and burnt his car in Rally Canterbury 2005. In 2006 he began competing in the New Zealand Rally Championship in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII, winning both the Junior and Rookie titles.
