2009–10 Hessenliga
The 2009–10 season of the Hessenliga was the second season of the league at tier five (V) of the German football league system. FSV Frankfurt II, champions of the Hessenliga, were promoted to the 2010–11 Regionalliga Süd. KSV Klein-Karben, 1. FC Germania 08 Ober-Roden, TSG Wörsdorf and SVA Bad Hersfeld were relegated to their respective Verbandsligen, whilst Viktoria Aschaffenburg had to withdraw from the Hessenliga after the end of the season as a result of going into administration. Due to their withdrawal, OSC Vellmar were allowed to stay in the league despite having lost in the relegation playoff round in which 1. FCA Darmstadt earned their Hessenliga place for the 2010–11 season. The winners of the 2009–10 Verbandsliga Hessen-Nord, VfB Süsterfeld, also went into administration, thus SV Buchonia Flieden will take their place in the 2010–11 Hessenliga. Hessenliga
The Hessenliga (until 2008 ''Oberliga Hessen'') is the highest football league in the state of Hesse and the Hessian football league system. It is one of fourteen Oberligas in German football, the fifth tier of the German football league system. Until the introduction of the 3. Liga in 2008 it was the fourth tier of the league system, until the introduction of the Regionalligas in 1994 the third tier. Overview The league was formed in 1945 and except for its first two seasons it has always played as one single division. The league was called Landesliga-Hessen until 1950 and actually formed the second tier of southern German football. With the introduction of the 2nd Oberliga Süd in 1950, the Landesliga-Hessen was renamed Amateurliga Hessen. From 1978, it was called Amateur Oberliga Hessen and finally, in 1994 it was renamed Oberliga Hessen. Eintracht Wetzlar
Eintracht Wetzlar is a German association football club based in Wetzlar, Hesse. History Formed on 30 July 1905 as Wetzlarer Fußball Club, they merged with Wetzlarer Ballspielclub 1910 in 1927 to become Sportverein Wetzlar 05. From the early 30s until the early 40s, the team played second division football until a title win advanced them to the Gauliga Hessen-Nassau (I) for a single season. Following World War II a number of local sides including SV were combined to create Sportgemeinde Eintracht Wetzlar which, for all but five seasons, played third division football as a lower table side until the formation of the Bundesliga – Germany's first top-flight professional league – in 1963. SG carried on as a third-tier club in the Oberliga Hessen until an 18th-place result in 1971 saw the side relegated. SC Waldgirmes
SC Waldgirmes is a German association football club from Waldgirmes, Hesse. The 700 member club is best known for its football team, but also has departments for table tennis, women's gymnastics, alpine gymnastics, and cycling. History The association was founded in 1929 as ''SG Waldgirmes''. As a worker's side the club was banned for political reasons when the Nazis came to power in 1933 and a number of the footballers left for ''TV 05 Waldgirmes'' where they formed a football department. After World War II occupying Allied authorities banned all organizations in the country including sports and football associations. ''SG Waldgirmes'' was re-established in the summer of 1945 as a general community sports association. FC Viktoria 09 Urberach
FC Viktoria 09 Urberach is a German association football club from the city of Rödermark, Hesse. History The club was formed on 24 December 1909 but only entered competitive football in 1914. In the years after the First World War, the club gradually improved, opening its new playing field in 1921 and winning the local cup competition in 1924. In 1926, a first league championship was archived and in 1930, the club won promotion to the ''Bezirksliga Main-Hessen'', then the highest football league in the region, where it competed with clubs like FSV Mainz 05 and Wormatia Worms. TSV Eintracht Stadtallendorf is a German association football club from the city of Stadtallendorf, Hesse. The footballers are part of a sports club that also includes departments for athletics, badminton, gymnastics, handball, judo, swimming, and volleyball. Kickers Offenbach
Offenbacher Kickers, also known as Kickers Offenbach, is a German association football club in Offenbach am Main, Hesse. The club was founded on 27 May 1901 in the Rheinischer Hof restaurant by footballers who had left established local clubs including ''Melitia'', ''Teutonia'', ''Viktoria'', ''Germania'' and ''Neptun''. VfB Marburg is a German football club based in Marburg, Hesse, currently playing in the Hessenliga. History VfB Marburg was established on 13 May 1905 as Marburger Fußball Club and in its first two years boasted over 100 members. In October 1908, the club changed its name to Verein für Bewegungsspiele 1905 Marburg as it began to include sports other than football. In 1911, the footballers beat Bonner FV 6–0 and then 1. Fußballsportverein Frankfurt 1899 e.V., commonly known as simply FSV Frankfurt, is a German association football club based in the Bornheim district of Frankfurt am Main, Hesse and founded in 1899. FSV Frankfurt also fielded a rather successful women's team, which was disbanded in 2006. FSV Fernwald is a German football club from the town of Fernwald, Hesse. __TOC__ History The club was established as ''FSV Steinbach'' on 30 March 1926. KSV Baunatal is a German association football club based in Baunatal, Hesse. The team was founded on 13 April 1964 out of the union of ''KSV Altenritte'' and ''KSV Altenbauna''. FC Bayern Alzenau is a football in Germany, German football club based in Alzenau, Bavaria. They currently are in the Hessenliga.
