Norwegian Television
Television in Norway was Timeline of the introduction of television in countries, introduced in 1954, but the first television program was only shown in 1958, and regular broadcasts did not start until 1960. Like Denmark, Norway had only one television channel until the 1980s. Some 40% of the population have Cable television, cable TV, and 30% have Satellite television, satellite TV. TV2 (Norway)
TV 2 (''TV to'') is a Norwegian terrestrial television channel. Its headquarters are located in Bergen. TV 2 began test broadcasting on 13 November 1991, and a year later, it was officially launched on 5 September 1992, becoming Norway's first commercial free-to-air television channel. In 1992, TV 2 A/S was admitted as full active member of the European Broadcasting Union. As is common with television (and cinema) in Norway, most foreign-language shows and segments of local programmes with foreign language dialogues (e.g. interviews with foreigners) are subtitled in Norwegian, not dubbed (with a notable exception being children's programmes). Viasat Fotball
Viasat Fotball was a Norwegian Pay-TV channel owned by Viasat. It is a sports channel which broadcasts games from around the world. Events shown on this channel include the FA CUP, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Coca-Cola Championships and some League 1 matches from England. This channel broadcast 16 World Cup matches in 2010. UEFA Champions League games are usually shown on this channel on Tuesday, while Wednesday's game will be shown on Viasat 4. Viasat Sport N
Viasat Sport N ("N" as in "Norway") was the name of a former sports channel which broadcast to Norway. The channel launched on 29 November 2005, as a replacement for the then pan-Nordic Viasat Sport 1 channel in Norway. The channel was a joint venture between Modern Times Group and Norsk Rikskringkasting. In addition to live sport coverage SportN showcased classic sport. The channel closed down when Viasat launched Viasat Fotball on 15 September 2009. SF-kanalen
SF-kanalen is a Swedish television channel, which shows movies from the library of Svensk Filmindustri. It is broadcast to Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland as a part of the Canal+ package. The channel launched on 1 October 2009 and would broadcast 24 hours per day from the start. From 1 November 2009, it will broadcast terrestrially in Sweden between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Weekdays and between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Weekends, sharing its channel space with Canal+ Sport 1. Disney XD (Scandinavian TV Channel)
Disney XD was a children's channel that broadcast 16 hours a day, between 6:00 and 22:00 CET. It replaced Jetix and Toon Disney on September 12, 2009. Jetix used to end its broadcast daily at 6:00 PM. Disney XD was funded by advertising, as was Jetix, while Toon Disney was commercial-free. Much of the distribution used by the two former channels was taken over by Disney XD. This includes the analogue frequency in YouSee's cable network, previously used by Jetix and Hallmark Channel. The channel was also available terrestrially in Denmark from November 1, 2009, via the Boxer platform. Jetix was granted a license to broadcast terrestrially in Sweden in March 2008, but were yet to use it due to transmission disputes. ''Skal vi danse'' is the Norwegian edition of the British television series, '' Strictly Come Dancing''. It is produced by Monster Entertainment and broadcast on TV 2 Jon Peder Olrud and Geir Bie were producers in the first season. The second and third seasons were produced by Ingvild Daae. The series premiered on TV 2 on January 15, 2006. ''Skal vi danse?'' in Norwegian means "shall we dance?" and the Dancing celebrities with professional dancers and companies are reviewed by a panel of judges and the TV viewers. Each pair consists of a celebrity and a professional dancer and the one with the fewest votes does not participate in the next round. The series has had high ratings in Norway, with an average of between 600,000 and 700,000 viewers. Quick Style or The Quick Style and also known as the Quick Crew, is a Norwegian hip-hop/urban dance group founded by two Norwegian-Pakistani brothers. The group is notable for having won Norske Talenter, a Norwegian version of ''America's Got Talent'' in 2009. They have also participated in NBC's ''World of Dance'' and other dance competitions.
