2009 Saskatchewan Roughriders Season
The 2009 Saskatchewan Roughriders season was the 52nd season for the team in the Canadian Football League. The Roughriders attempted to win their 4th Grey Cup championship but lost to the Alouettes in the Grey Cup final. During the 2009 Grey Cup on the second last play of the game, Sean Lucas of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, lined up as a slot back, behind a defensive linesman, during the missed kick attempt by Montreal. With 11 players already on the defensive line, and with 1 player, Jason Armstead, in the end-zone to return any missed kicks, Sean Lucas, a defensive linebacker, was on the field as a defender, & therefore, the 13th man on the field, causing the penalty on the play, and providing Montreal with another opportunity to win the 2009 Grey Cup. Ken Miller (football Coach)
Ken Miller (born October 15, 1941) is currently an offensive consultant for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League. He previously served in the league as head coach and vice president of football operations for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He served as the Roughriders head coach between 2008 and 2010, leading the team to appearances in the Grey Cup in 2009 and 2010. Miller returned as head coach of the Roughriders on August 19, 2011, after the firing of Greg Marshall after a 1–7 start to the 2011 CFL season. Miller was the club's offensive coordinator under head coach Kent Austin when they captured the 95th Grey Cup in 2007. Edmonton Eskimos
The Edmonton Elks are a professional Canadian football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The club competes in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member of the league's West Division and plays their home games at the Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium. Stu Foord
Stu Foord (born September 23, 1985) is a former Canadian football running back. He was originally signed by the Saskatchewan Roughriders as an undrafted free agent in 2008. Before joining the Roughriders, Foord played five years for the Regina Thunder of the Prairie Football Conference. Football career Amateur Foord played high school football for Thom Collegiate in Regina. After finishing his high school career, he played junior football for the Regina Thunder of the Prairie Football Conference. Foord was invited to the Saskatchewan Roughriders training camp after the 2006 season, but was cut due to a combination of on-field performance and off-field issues. Hugh Charles (born January 7, 1986) is a former Canadian football running back. He was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2007 before signing with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2008. He played college football at Colorado. Wes Cates
Wes Cates (born October 3, 1979) is a former professional Canadian football running back. College career Cates attended California University of Pennsylvania and graduated in 2001 without ever missing a game in his four-year career. He had 5,647 total yards, a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) record, on 937 carries, 63 rushing touchdowns and 386 total points, all school records. He was an All-American for the last two years of his college career and he led the PSAC in rushing for three of his four seasons. Cates was also the PSAC-West Offensive Player of the Year in 2001 and he led the PSAC in rushing for three seasons. Steven Jyles (born September 25, 1982) is a former professional Canadian football quarterback. Dalton Bell
Dalton Bell (born March 9, 1983) is a former Canadian football quarterback.. He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2007. He was later signed by the Seattle Seahawks. He signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2008 and was traded to the Toronto Argonauts in 2010. He played college football at West Texas A&M. The 2009 Winnipeg Blue Bombers season was the 52nd season for the team in the Canadian Football League and their 77th overall.
