Qatar Sports Club ( ar, نادي قطر الرياضي) is a sports club based in Doha, Qatar. It is best known for its football team which competes in the Qatar Stars League. The club was founded in 1961 as a merger of two Qatari football clubs Al-Oruba and Al-Nasour. They play their home games in the Qatar SC Stadium, which has a capacity of 15,000 It has recently diversified into sports other than football. An athletics group has been established, and this department competes in javelin throwing, long jumps, and sprinting. The club adopted its current name, ''Qatar SC'', in 1981. Ricardo Luis Pozzi Rodrigues (born May 23, 1976), better known as Ricardinho, is a Brazilian football pundit, manager and retired footballer. He usually played as a deep-lying playmaker in midfield, and was best known for his accurate passing and technique. International career Ricardinho earned 23 caps for the Brazilian national team, the first on March 28, 2000, in a match against Colombia. He was called up by Luiz Felipe Scolari for the 2002 FIFA World Cup as a late replacement for Emerson who was injured before the tournament began. He appeared in three matches as a substitute during the tournament as Brazil won the World Cup for the record fifth time. Márcio José de Oliveira (born July 20, 1984 in Irapuã), or simply Marcinho, is a Brazilian attacking midfielder. Career Marcinho began his career with Cruzeiro, by which team won many titles, as a reserve team. Then in 2005, transferred to the Grêmio, where quickly followed for Gençlerbirliği, Turkey. He returned to Brazil in 2006, wearing the shirt of Atlético Mineiro. He helped the Roosters in his return to the First Division, having been one of the highlights of that campaign. Qasem Abdulhamed Burhan ( ar, قاسم برهان; born on December 15, 1985) is a Qatari footballer. He currently plays as a goalkeeper for Al Gharrafa . International Burhan is born and raised in Senegal, but early in his career moved to Qatar, and became a naturalized citizen. He is a member of the Qatar national football team. Penalty Kick (association Football)
A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines. Procedure The ball is placed on the penalty mark, regardless of where in the penalty area the foul occurred. The player taking the kick must be identified to the referee. The Qatar Stars League ( ar, دوري نجوم قطر), or the QSL, also called QNB Stars League for sponsorship reasons, is the top level football league in Qatar football league system. Contested by 12 teams, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with the Qatari Second Division (QSD). Seasons of the QSL usually run from September to April. The league's first season was played in 1963, although the first official season occurred in 1972. The league currently features 12 clubs, with one club being demoted to make room for one club being promoted.
