Prime League
The Prime League was the reserve and youth team soccer league of Singapore's S.League. Teams involved in the league are primarily made up of youth players from the S.League clubs. The Prime League was founded in 1997. S.League clubs are required to participate, and clubs who do not play at S.League level are also eligible to enter. In 2018, the Prime League was abolished, with the National Football League (NFL) installed as the second-tier competition. Participation rules All S.League teams had to register a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 players for the Prime League. Clubs not participating in the S. League had to register a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 25 players. The teams should maintain the minimum required number of players throughout the season.Each club was allowed to register 1 foreign player for their Prime League teams. Hougang United Football Club is a Singaporean professional football club that competes in the Singapore Premier League. History Hougang United Football Club was founded as Marine Castle United Football Club, which was formed by Newcastle United fans in the Marine Parade area. Upon successful entry into the S.League in 1998, the club struggled in its early foray in the first few years, finishing in the bottom two for the next four seasons. Marine Castle changed its name to Sengkang Marine Football Club in 2002 and finished in 8th position consecutively, its highest ever finish in its short history. Ang Zhiwei is a Singaporean footballer who plays in the S.League for Warriors FC. He started his career as an attacking midfielder but now plays as a defender. Club career He started to focus on football after rejection from his school's basketball team due to his height. Gombak United Football Club was a professional Football (soccer), football club which competed in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. The club was based in Bukit Gombak. During the early years of the S. League, Gombak United played their home games at Bukit Gombak Stadium before moving to Jurong West Stadium in 2006 until they dissolved in 2012. Warriors Football Club is a Singaporean professional football club that played in the Singapore Premier League, the top division of football in Singapore. Before changing their name on 20 January 2013, they were previously known as the Singapore Armed Forces Football Club (SAFFC) since their establishment on 16 February 1996. Woodlands Wellington Football Club is an inactive professional football club which played in the S.League, the top division of football in Singapore. They are based in Woodlands at the 4,300 seater Woodlands Stadium, where they have played since their establishment. Woodlands Wellington FC's honours include winning the inaugural Singapore League Cup in 2007, defeating Sengkang Punggol FC 4–0 in the final.
