2009 NCAA Division I Baseball Season
The 2009 NCAA Division I baseball season, play of college baseball in the United States organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) at the Division I level, began on February 20, 2009. The season progressed through the regular season, many conference tournaments and championship series, and concluded with the 2009 NCAA Division I baseball tournament and 2009 College World Series. The College World Series, which consisted of the eight remaining teams in the NCAA tournament, was held in its annual location of Omaha, Nebraska, at Rosenblatt Stadium. It concluded on June 24, 2009, with the final game of the best of three championship series. LSU defeated Texas two games to one to claim their sixth championship. LSU Tigers Baseball
The LSU Tigers baseball team represents Louisiana State University in NCAA Division I college baseball. The team participates in the West Division of the Southeastern Conference. It ranks seventh overall with 18 College World Series appearances and second all-time with six national championships (1991, 1993, 1996, 1997, 2000, and 2009). The North Dakota Fighting Hawks baseball team was a part of the athletic program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. History The team was a member of the NCAA Division I Western Athletic Conference. It played at Harold Kraft Memorial Field. The last head coach was Jeff Dodson. The public address announcer for the baseball team was Kris Holm. Announced April 12, 2016, as a part of expense reductions because of institution and statewide budget cuts, the University of North Dakota announced the baseball program would be discontinued at the end of their 2015–16 season. The ASUN Conference, formerly the Atlantic Sun Conference, is a collegiate athletic conference operating mostly in the Southeastern United States. NCAA Division I independent schools are four-year institutions that compete in college athletics at the NCAA Division I level, but do not belong to an established athletic conference for a particular sport. The Cal State Bakersfield baseball team represents California State University, Bakersfield in the NCAA Division I college baseball.
