2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
The 2009 NASCAR Canadian Tire Series is the third racing season since the buy out of the CASCAR Super Series. Highlights The 2009 calendar is highlighted with a race added to Saskatchewan at the Auto Clearing Motor Speedway, a return to Delaware Speedway and the dates at Cayuga, Ontario removed. Important car changes are Joey Hanssen came from the Netherlands to run a second D. J. Kennington's car, J. R. Fitzpatrick has graduated to NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and will only run part-time and as well as American NASCAR star Cale Gale will run a couple of races. Again all of the races will air on TSN on tape delay. The 2009 season will be David Whitlock's last season as he started it off great with a win in Quebec. Formula One driver Jacques Villeneuve made his series debut in the Tide 250 (4th race of the year) finishing last after wrecking out on the 1st lap where Scott Steckly went to victory lane. CASCAR Super Series
The CASCAR Super Series was Canada's premier stock car touring division. It was sanctioned by CASCAR. The series ended after the 2006 season after NASCAR purchased CASCAR, and NASCAR used it as the basis for the NASCAR Pinty's Series. General Tire served as the series' title sponsor from 1988 to 1990, followed by Budweiser from 1993 to 1993. Barrie Speedway
Barrie Speedway was a 1/3-mile tri-oval racing track located in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada, north of Barrie. It was a member of CASCAR Super Series between 1989 and 1995, the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series for the Ontario Provincial and National (Continental) championships between 2007 and 2014, and also hosted a NASCAR Canadian Tire Series 10 races between 2007 and 2014. The Dodge Avenger is a front-wheel drive, mid-sized sedan that was marketed by Dodge. The Avenger made its North American debut in 1994 for the 1995 model year as a coupe that was produced until 2000. Kerry Micks (born January 10, 1961) is a Canadian race car driver in the NASCAR Pinty's Series. CASCAR Super Series Kerry and his wife Susan formed Micks Motorsports in 1992 to compete in the CASCAR Super Series. From 1990 to 2006 he drove in CASCAR, where is the all-time leader in starts with 165 and second in wins with 24 in the series. Micks won his first and only CASCAR Super Series Championship in 1993. Micks was the first Canadian driver to race a Ford when Ford of Canada came on board for the CASCAR Super Series in 1995. Joey Hanssen (Venray, 1 July 1991) is a Dutch racing driver. He currently races in the CIK Stars of Karting Series in the KZ2 class. Career history Karting Joey started kart racing competitively in 1997. He raced under the NAB-NFK sanctioning body, which then organized the official Dutch karting championships. He won his first title in 2003 in the Junior ICA class. In the Dutch championship Junior ICA, Joey finished second. At 15 years old he stepped over to the shifter karts.
