Neepawa, Manitoba
Neepawa is a town in Manitoba, Canada located on the Yellowhead Highway at the intersection with Highway 5. its population was 5,685. Neepawa was incorporated as a town in 1883. It is bordered by the Municipality of North Cypress – Langford and Rural Municipality of Rosedale. Neepawa is the self-proclaimed Lily capital of the world in part because of its Lily Festival. History In the many years before European settlement, the lands around Neepawa were primarily used by the Cree and the Assiniboine. Native peoples in the area followed a regular cycle by following the Plains Bison to take shelter in the areas north of Neepawa in the winter, and then heading south again across the plains and beyond Neepawa in the summer. The town name of Neepawa comes from the Cree word for "Land of Plenty", the name was first used around 1873. Morden is a city located in the Pembina Valley region of southern Manitoba, Canada near the United States border. It is about west of the neighbouring city of Winkler; together Morden and Winkler are often referred to as Manitoba's Twin Cities. Lindsay Nicole Warkentin (born Titheridge, November 8, 1982 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler. She previously played lead for the Chelsea Carey team. Career As a junior curler, Warkentin represented Manitoba at the 1999 Canada Winter Games, and she won the Manitoba junior championship in 2001, playing second for Allison Nimik (Flaxey). Kristen Foster (born January 27, 1987 in Morden, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler. In 2003, Foster led her Morden Collegiate Institute team to a Manitoba High School championship. Foster had played with the Chelsea Carey rink since it formed in 2007. Since joining the rink, the team has won one Grand Slam event, the 2010 Manitoba Lotteries Women's Curling Classic and one provincial championship, the 2014 Manitoba Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The team has also played in three Canada Cups, in 2010, 2011 and 2012- finishing 2nd in 2011. The team also played in the 2013 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials, where they placed 4th. They won the bronze medal at the 2014 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Chelsea Danielle Carey (born September 12, 1984 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) is a Canadian curler from Calgary, Alberta. She is the 2016 and 2019 Canadian and Alberta women's champion skip and 2014 Manitoba provincial women's champion skip. Career Earlier career Carey curled in six provincial junior championships, but did not win the event. She did win the 2000 Juvenile Provincial championship which she followed up with a silver medal at the 2001 Canadian Juvenile championship. She was also the Manitoba high school provincial champion in 2002.
