2009 Ladies European Tour
The 2009 Ladies European Tour was a series of golf tournaments for elite female golfers from around the world which took place from January through December 2009. The tournaments were sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET). The tour featured 21 official money events, as well as the Solheim Cup and the European Ladies Golf Cup. Sophie Gustafson won the Order of Merit with earnings of €281,315, ahead of Catriona Matthew. Gustafson participated in only four events, and Matthew only three events. Sophie Gustafson
Sophie Gustafson (born 27 December 1973) is a Swedish professional golfer. She was a member of the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and is a life member of the Ladies European Tour (LET). She has five LPGA Tour and 23 international wins in her career, including victories on five of the six continents on which golf is played: North America, Europe, Australia, Africa and Asia. She is a four-time LET Order of Merit winner and represented Europe in the Solheim Cup on each team from 1998 to 2011. She won the Women's British Open in 2000, the year before it was recognized as a major championship by the LPGA Tour and finished runner-up in 2005 and 2006. The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) is an American organization for female golfers. The organization is headquartered at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida, and is best known for running the LPGA Tour, a series of weekly golf tournaments for elite female professional golfers from around the world. Ai Miyazato
is a former Japanese professional golfer who competed on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour and the LPGA of Japan Tour (JLPGA). She was the top-ranked golfer in the Women's World Golf Rankings on three occasions in 2010. Early life, family and amateur career Miyazato was born on 19 June 1985 in Higashi, Okinawa, Japan. Evian Masters
The Evian Championship, currently known for sponsorship reasons as The Amundi Evian Championship, is a women's professional golf tournament in France, played at the Evian Resort Golf Club in Évian-les-Bains. It was originally held in June, moved to July in 2003, and moved again to September in 2013. It returned to a July date in 2019. Founded in 1994 on the Ladies European Tour (LET) as the Evian Masters, it is one of two major championships on the LET. Not originally a major on the LPGA Tour, it became an LPGA co-sanctioned event in 2000, which included a significant increase in purse size. Becky Brewerton
Rebecca Dawn Brewerton (born 20 October 1982) is a Welsh professional golfer and a member of the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour. Amateur career Brewerton was born in St Asaph, Wales. She had a successful amateur career. She was Welsh Girls Champion in 1997 and 1998 and Welsh Ladies' Amateur Champion in 1999 and 2001. The SAS Ladies Masters was a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour. It was played in Norway between 2002 and 2009, in July or August each year. Diana Luna (born 3 September 1982) is a professional golfer from Italy. Luna was born in Rome, Italy and turned professional in 2001. She won her first event on the Ladies European Tour in 2004 at the Tenerife Ladies Open, beating Becky Brewerton down the stretch. After winless years in 2005-2008, Luna won two events back-to-back in the summer of 2009 for her second and third wins. Those two wins gave Luna a spot on the 2009 Solheim Cup European team. Ladies Irish Open
The Women's Irish Open is a professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour (LET), held in the Republic of Ireland. The tournament became part of the LET schedule in 1994 and ran for ten editions through 2003. After a four-year hiatus, the tournament was revived again in 2008 as part of the buildup to the 2011 Solheim Cup, scheduled for late September at Killeen Castle in County Meath. Killeen Castle hosted the Ladies Irish Open in early August, the week following the Women's British Open. Last played in 2012, the tournament returned in 2022, now held at Dromoland Castle in County Clare. Johanna Monica Elisabeth Westerberg Johansson (born 24 November 1977) is a Swedish professional golfer. Westerberg was born in Linköping, Sweden. She resides in Södertälje, Sweden.
