2009 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix
The FIVB World Grand Prix 2009 is a women's volleyball tournament that was played by 12 countries from 31 July to 23 August 2009. The finals were held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan. Brazil, United States, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico qualified for the tournament at the 2008 Women's Pan-American Cup in Mexicali and Tijuana, Mexico. Sheilla Castro
Sheilla Castro de Paula Blassioli (born 1 July 1983 in Belo Horizonte) is a former volleyball player from Brazil, who represented her native country at the 2008 Summer Olympics and in the 2012 Summer Olympics. On both occasions the Brazilian national team won the gold medal. She also played the 2016 Summer Olympics, when Brazil placed fifth. She retired on April 9th 2022. Career She plays as opposite in the Brazilian national team, and in Molico/Osasco. She made her debut for the national team against Colombia. Castro was named "Most Valuable Player" at the 2006 FIVB World Grand Prix in Reggio Calabria, Italy, and at the 2009 FIVB World Grand Prix in Tokyo, Japan, with Brazil winning the gold medal both times. At the 2011 Pan-American Cup, Castro was given the "Most Valuable Player" award, also winning the gold medal with her national team. Fabiana "Fabi" Alvim de Oliveira (born 7 March 1980 in Rio de Janeiro) is a retired volleyball player from Brazil who won the gold medal at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympics. Career Fabiana started playing volleyball at the age of 13, specializing in defense - and later the libero position - due to her short height. De Oliveira was first called up to the Brazil women's national volleyball team in 2002, under coach Marco Aurélio Motta. She lost her place under his replacement, José Roberto Guimarães, and only returned to being a mainstay of the team in 2005. At the 2007 Pan American Games, held in Rio de Janeiro, de Oliveira and the Brazilian team won the silver medal. Thaisa de Moraes Rosa Moreno (born 17 December 1988), commonly known as Thaisa or Isa Moreno, is a Brazilian Association football, footballer who plays as a midfielder for Clube de Regatas do Flamengo (women), Flamengo and the Brazil women's national football team, Brazil women's national team. Marianne Steinbrecher (born August 23, 1983) is a Brazilian volleyball player, who plays as a wing spiker at Molico/Osasco. She represented her native country at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, in which she helped her country win the gold medal. Life and career Born in São Paulo, Steinbrecher, who is of Russian and German descent, started playing volleyball when she was 14 years old. After playing for Rolândia/Faccar and Grêmio Londrinense, she professionalized while playing for Osasco. Danielle Rodrigues Lins, better known as Dani Lins (born January 5, 1985), is a volleyball player from Brazil, who plays as a setter. She represented her country at the FIVB World Grand Prix 2009 in Tokyo, Japan, where they won the gold medal. In 2012, she became an Olympic champion at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
