2009 European Amateur Team Championship
The 2009 European Amateur Team Championship took place 30 June – 4 July at Conwy Golf Club in Conwy County Borough, Wales, United Kingdom. It was the 27th men's golf European Amateur Team Championship. Venue Conwy Golf Club was formed in 1890. Its links course in Conwy County Borough, on the north coast of Wales, was designed by Jack Morris, club professional at Royal Liverpool Golf Club and nephew of Old Tom Morris, the first nine holes in 1875 and additional nine holes in 1895. The championship course was set up with par 72. Format Each team consisted of 6 players, playing two rounds of stroke-play over two days, counting the five best scores each day for each team. Conwy
Conwy (, ), previously known in English as Conway, is a walled market town, community and the administrative centre of Conwy County Borough in North Wales. The walled town and castle stand on the west bank of the River Conwy, facing Deganwy on the east bank. The town formerly lay in Gwynedd and prior to that in Caernarfonshire. The community, which also includes Deganwy and Llandudno Junction, had a population of 14,753 at the 2011 census. Royal Liverpool Golf Club
The Royal Liverpool Golf Club is a golf club in Wirral in Merseyside, England. It was founded in 1869 on what was then the racecourse of the Liverpool Hunt Club. It received the "Royal" designation in 1871 due to the patronage of the Duke of Connaught of the day, one of Queen Victoria's younger sons, Robert Chambers and George Morris (younger brother of Old Tom Morris) were commissioned to lay out the original course, which was extended to 18 holes in 1871. Dale Whitnell
Dale Whitnell (born 9 August 1988) is an English professional golfer who plays on the European Tour. He won the 2023 Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed. Amateur career Whitnell had a successful amateur career and he won the 2006 Abu Dhabi Junior Golf Championship. In 2008, he won the St Andrews Trophy and played in the Eisenhower Trophy with Luke Goddard and Sam Hutsby. In 2009, he was tapped to play in the Walker Cup team. Sam Hutsby
Sam Hutsby (born 29 October 1988) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Hutsby had a successful amateur career, working under the tutelage of golf coach Sam Torrance until they broke up in June 2008. In 2009 he lost the finals of The Amateur Championship at Formby Golf Club to Matteo Manassero, the youngest winner ever. He won the Spanish Amateur in 2006, which allowed him to play in the Spanish Open, and lost the Spanish finals to Reinier Saxton in 2009. Matthew Haines (born 1 December 1989) is an English professional golfer. Haines turned professional in May 2010 after a successful amateur career, during which he became the youngest ever winner of the Lytham Trophy and represented Great Britain and Ireland in the 2009 Walker Cup as well as England in the European Amateur Team Championship. Charles Philip Ford (born 1 May 1985) is an English professional golfer who currently plays on the European Tour. Ford attended the University of Tennessee in the United States before turning professional in 2009. Andreas Hartø (born 26 July 1988) is a Danish professional golfer. In August 2010, Hartø became just the fourth amateur to win on the European Challenge Tour when he captured the ECCO Tour Championship.
