2009 American Le Mans Series At Long Beach
The 2009 Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach was the third round of the 2009 American Le Mans Series season. It took place at the Long Beach street circuit, California on April 18, 2009. The de Ferran Motorsports Acura team earned their first victory in the series, leading the Highcroft Racing Acura to the finish. Fernández Racing Acura also won the LMP2 category for their third straight race while the #4 Chevrolet Corvette of Oliver Gavin and Olivier Beretta won Corvette Racing's final appearance in the GT1 category in the American Le Mans Series. Flying Lizard Motorsports won their second straight GT2 class victory after early leader Farnbacher-Loles suffered a suspension failure on circuit. De Ferran Motorsports
De Ferran Motorsports was a motor racing team that competed in the American Le Mans Series. The team was owned by the 2003 Indianapolis 500 winner Gil de Ferran. On August 7, 2009 de Ferran announced that he would retire from racing at the end of the 2009 season. He also planned to move the team to the IndyCar Series, but instead merged with Luczo Dragon Racing to form de Ferran Luczo Dragon Racing. Racing History The 2008 season started late for the team. Gil de Ferran and co-driver Simon Pagenaud's first race was the 2008 Utah Grand Prix where they finished an incredible third overall. The team, however, was unable to match their debut result for the rest of the season. A scary pit lane fire also lowered the team's confidence toward the end of the season. By season end, the team finished 6th in the teams' championship and 14th in the drivers' championship. Bryan Sellers (born August 19, 1982 in Daytona Beach, Florida, Dayton, Ohio) is an American racing driver. Sellers won the title in the U.S. F2000 National Championship, U.S. F2000 in 2002 and later competed in the Atlantic Championship and in racing sports cars. Racing career Bryan Sellers first competed in the World Karting Association (WKA) Manufacturer's Cup and the Gold Cup in 1994, racing other young drivers such as Danica Patrick. Richard Westbrook
Richard Westbrook (born 10 July 1975) is a British professional racing driver noted for his success in racing Porsche and International sports cars. As a junior, he attended St Joseph's College, Ipswich. He has won both the Porsche Supercup international championship (in 2006 & 2007) and the Porsche Carrera Cup in his native Britain (2004). Dirk Müller (born 18 November 1975) is a German Ford factory racing driver, driving for Ford Chip Ganassi Racing in the 2016 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. Johnny O'Connell (born July 24, 1962) is the most successful GM factory racing driver from the United States. He currently drives for Cadillac in the Pirelli World Challenge, winning the 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 GT driver's championship. Robert Franklin "Butch" Leitzinger (born February 28, 1969) is an American professional racing driver. He is best known as an ALMS driver with Dyson Racing, but he has also driven for a variety of other teams and race series.
