2009 AFC Champions League Knockout Stage
The 2009 AFC Champions League knockout stage was played from 26 May to 7 November 2009. A total of 16 teams competed in the knockout stage to decide the champions of the 2009 AFC Champions League. Qualified teams The winners and runners-up of each of the eight groups in the group stage qualified for the knockout stage. Both West Zone and East Zone had eight teams qualified. Bracket Note: while the bracket below shows the entire knockout stage, the draw for the round of 16 matches was determined at the time of the group draw, and kept teams from East and West Asia completely separate for that round. Osama Hawsawi ( ar, أسامة هوساوي, born 31 March 1984) is a retired Saudi Arabian footballer who played as a central defender. After starting out at Al-Wehda, he went on to spend the vast majority of his career with Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli. Abdullah Al Hilali (born January 1, 1970) is an Omani association football referee for FIFA, and the Asian Football Confederation. He has performed at many international football competitions since 2002 including the 2008 Summer Olympics, the AFC Champions League 2009 and the World Cup 2010 qualifiers. A former soldier in the Omani army, in 2008 Al Hilali became the first Omani to officiate at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
