2008–09 Süper Lig
The 2008–09 Süper Lig (also known as ''Turkcell Super League'' due to sponsoring reasons) was the fifty-first season since its establishment. It began on 22 August 2008 and ended on 31 May 2009. Galatasaray were the defending champions. Beşiktaş clinched the championship after winning at Denizlispor on the last matchday. The latter barely avoided relegation after finishing in a three-way tie on points with Gençlerbirliği and Konyaspor. Head-to-head comparison between those three teams eventually resulted in the demotion of Konyaspor, who joined Kocaelispor and Hacettepe on their way to the second-level First League. Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray had to settle for fourth and fifth place, respectively, after Sivasspor came in as runners-up and Trabzonspor finished third. Beşiktaş () is a district and municipality of Istanbul, Turkey, located on the European shore of the Bosphorus strait. TFF First League
The TFF 1. Lig, officially known as Spor Toto 1. Lig for sponsorship reasons, is the second level of the Turkish football league system. The league was founded in 2001 as the ''Turkish Second League Category A'' after the reorganization of the Second Football League, which was the second level of the Turkish league system between 1963 and 2001. The league was called ''Türk Telekom Lig A'' in the 2006–2007 season, and was renamed to ''TFF First League'' prior to the 2007–08 season. As of 16 January 2008 the league was renamed as Bank Asya 1. Lig. In April 2012 Bank Asya withdrew as sponsor of the league. During the 2012-2016 seasons the league was known under the terms of a sponsorship deal as the PTT 1. Lig. Kayseri Spor Kulübü, commonly known as Kayserispor, is a Turkish professional football club based in Kayseri. They play their home matches at the Kadir Has Stadium in red and yellow kits. The 2007–08 TFF First League (also known as ''Bank Asya First League'' due to sponsoring reasons) was the second-level football league of Turkey and the 45th season since its establishment in 1963–64. At the end of the season in which 18 teams competed in a single group, Kocaelispor and Antalyaspor, which finished the league in the first two places, and the play-off winner Eskişehirspor were promoted to the upper league, while Elazığspor, Istanbulspor and Mardinspor, which were in the last three places, were relegated.
