2008–09 Lega Basket Serie A
The 2008–09 Lega Basket Serie A season, known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons, was the 87th season of the Lega Basket Serie A (LBA), the top tier professional basketball league division of the Italian basketball league system. The regular season ran from September 30, 2007 to April 27, 2008, 16 teams played each other team in home and away matches. At the end of the regular season, the top 8 teams advanced to the championship play-off whilst the lowest ranked teams, GMAC Bologna and Snaidero Udine, were relegated to the Legadue. The original number of teams was 18, but on September 20, 2008 the Federal Council of the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) discovered administrative irregularities committed by Basket Napoli and UPEA Capo d'Orlando and decided to deny them professional licenses. The council also chose not to substitute them with any teams from LegADue, and at the same time decided to permanently reduce the number of teams in the top flight to 16. Montep ...

The 2007–08 Lega Basket Serie A season, known as the Serie A TIM for sponsorship reasons, was the 86th season of the Lega Basket Serie A, the highest professional basketball league in Italy. The regular season ran from September 30, 2007 to April 27, 2008, 18 teams played 34 games each. At the end of the regular season, the top 8 teams made the play-offs whilst the lowest ranked teams, Cimberio Varese and Legea Scafati, were relegated to the Legadue. Montepaschi Siena won their 3rd title by winning the playoff finals series against Lottomatica Roma. Mens Sana 1871 Basket is an Italian professional basketball club based in Siena. It is a section of the sports club Polisportiva Mens Sana, founded in 1871. Under the name Montepaschi Siena, derived from sponsor Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, the club was a dominant presence in the Italian Serie A, winning five titles in a row from 2006–07 to 2010–11, besides two more titles later revoked by the Italian Federation, whilst also challenging for titles in Europe. LegADue
Serie A2, known for sponsorship reasons as Serie A2 Old Wild West, is a men's basketball league in Italy. It constitutes the second-tier of the Italian league pyramid, below the first division LBA and above the third division Serie B, with promotion/relegation occurring between these leagues. It is run by the Lega Nazionale Pallacanestro (LNP), itself regulated by the FIP, the Italian federation. Names History The league was created in May 1974, by the Lega Basket, the organisation in charge of running the LBA (to this day), that decided to create a new second division with 10 clubs. The two that were relegated during that season, and 8 from the now-former second tier Serie B, chosen with an on and off the court criteria. Basket Club Ferrara was an Italian professional basketball team based in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna. For past club sponsorship names, see sponsorship names. History Basket Club Ferrara was founded on 16 June 1999 and started playing in the third division Serie B d’Eccellenza that same season. It stayed another season in the league before moving up to the LegaDue in 2001. Palaverde
Palaverde is an indoor sporting arena located in Villorba near Treviso, Italy. Opened in September 1983 it has been used mainly for basketball and volleyball. History The Palaverde was constructed under the impulsion and with the funding of the Benetton Group. The professional basketball club they owned, Pallacanestro Treviso, had had to play in Padua because the arenas in Treviso, such as the Natatorio sports complex, were not up to the standards of the professional basketball leagues. Tired of the slow progress, if not end, of the municipality's efforts to offer a suitable arena, the Benetton family proceeded to have the arena built. Oktay Mahmuti ( mk, Октај Махмути; born 6 March 1968) is a Turkish-Macedonian professional basketball coach. Mahmuti is well-known for coaching defense, particularly during his time with Efes and Benetton Treviso. He is currently unemployed. Pallacanestro Treviso, named Benetton Basket due to a long running sponsorship by the Benetton Group and widely referred to as Benetton Treviso, is an Italian youth basketball club based in Treviso, Veneto. The club was previously a successful professional club until 2012 when the Benetton Group decided to withdraw from professional basketball, though they retained the youth section at La Ghirada, the sports complex they own. Teramo Basket was a professional basketball club that is based in Teramo, Italy. Piero Bucchi
Piero Bucchi (born March 5, 1958) is an Italian basketball coach who is the head coach of Dinamo Sassari in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and Basketball Champions League (BCL) and Romeo Sacchetti's assistant coach of the Italian national team. Career Piero Bucchi started his coach-career with Basket Rimini Crabs in 1992. He became the head coach of that team in March 1996.
