2008–09 KFC Twenty20 Big Bash
The 2008–09 KFC Twenty20 Big Bash was the 4th season of the official Twenty20 domestic cricket competition in Australia. Six teams representing six states in Australia participated in the competition. The competition began on 26 December 2008 when the Queensland Bulls took on the New South Wales Blues at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (Gabba). This season comprised 15 regular matches, a preliminary final and a final, the same as was in the 2007–08 season except with the addition of the preliminary final. Table Teams received 2 points for a win, 1 for a tie or no result, and 0 for a loss. The teams ranked two and three played each other at the home venue of the team ranked two, for the right to play the first placed team in a final at the venue of the first placed team. Cricket Australia (CA), formerly known as the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for professional and amateur cricket in Australia. Dominic Thornely
Dominic John Thornely (born 1 October 1978) is an Australian former first-class cricketer who played for the New South Wales cricket team in Australian domestic cricket. Thornely made his debut for New South Wales aged 25 and made his maiden first-class century with 143 against Victoria at Newcastle. He went on to receive Australia A selection in his debut season. He held an Australian Cricket Academy scholarship in 1997. He had an outstanding 2004–05 series in the Pura Cup scoring 1065 runs at 62.65 with 4 centuries, helping NSW to win the competition. His highest score of 261 was made against Western Australia at the SCG and in it he beat the record of David Hookes for most sixes in an Australian domestic game with 11. Phillip Hughes
Phillip Joel Hughes (30 November 1988 – 27 November 2014) was an Australian Test and One Day International (ODI) cricketer who played domestic cricket for South Australia and Worcestershire. He was a left-handed opening batsman who played for two seasons with New South Wales before making his Test debut in 2009 at the age of 20. He made his One Day International Debut in 2013. Hughes scored his first Test century in March 2009, aged 20, in his second Test match for Australia, opening the batting and hitting 115 in the first innings against South Africa in Durban. This made Hughes Australia's youngest Test centurion since Doug Walters in 1965. Moises Henriques
Moisés Constantino Henriques (; born 1 February 1987) is a Portugal-born Australian professional cricketer who plays for Australia, New South Wales and the Sydney Sixers. An all-rounder, he is the first cricketer born in Portugal to play for Australia in an international match. Under-19s career At 16 years of age, Henriques was selected for the Australian U-19 cricket team's squad for the 2004 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Bangladesh, where he took 11 wickets at 19.27 and scored 95 runs at 19.00. Douglas Erwin Bollinger (born 24 July 1981) is a former Australian cricketer. He has played first-class cricket for the New South Wales cricket team and international cricket for Australia. He is a left-handed batsman and a left-arm fast bowler. Nathan Reardon
Nathan Jon Reardon (born 8 November 1984) is a former professional Australian cricketer. He primarily played as a batsman in limited overs matches, playing for his home state of Queensland from 2005 to 2016. He also played Twenty20 cricket in the Big Bash League for four different teams, and represented Australia in two Twenty20 Internationals in November 2014. Marcus James North (born 28 July 1979) is a former Australian first-class cricketer who played 21 Test cricket, Test matches and two One Day Internationals (ODIs) for the Australia national cricket team, Australian national side. WACA Ground
The WACA (formally the WACA Ground) is a sports stadium in Perth, Western Australia. The stadium's name derives from the initials of its owners and operators, the Western Australian Cricket Association. The WACA has been referred to as Western Australia's "home of cricket" since the early 1890s, with Test cricket played at the ground since the 1970–71 season. Cameron White
Cameron Leon White (born 18 August 1983) is an Australian former international cricketer who captained the national side in Twenty20 Internationals. A powerful middle order batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler, White made his first-class cricket debut as a teenager in the 2000–01 season for the Victoria cricket team as a bowling all-rounder. In 2003–04, he became Victoria's youngest ever captain at the age of 20 when he took over leadership of their one-day side, and the first-class captaincy followed the season after. Daniel Marsh
Daniel James Marsh (born 14 June 1973) is a former Australian cricketer who captained the Tasmanian Tigers. The son of former late Australian keeper Rod Marsh, he was a right-handed batsman and a handy slow left-arm orthodox bowler. Bellerive Oval
Bellerive Oval, known commercially as Blundstone Arena for sponsorship reasons, is a cricket and Australian rules football ground located in Bellerive, a suburb on the eastern shore of Hobart, Australia, holding 20,000 people it is the largest capacity stadium in Tasmania.
