''Big Brother Brasil 8'' was the eighth season of ''Big Brother Brasil'' which premiered January 8, 2008 with the season finale airing March 25, 2008 on the Rede Globo television network. The show is produced by Endemol Globo and presented by news reporter Pedro Bial. The season was officially confirmed since 2001 as part of the original contract between international Endemol and Rede Globo that provided seasons until 2008. The grand prize was R$1 million with tax allowances, with a R$100,000 prize offered to the runner up and a R$50,000 prize offered to the 3rd place. In the end, 26-year-old musician Rafinha Ribeiro from Campinas, SP, won the competition over student Gyselle Soares with 50.15% of the final vote. Christiane Torloni
Christiane Maria dos Santos Torloni (born 18 February 1957) is a Brazilian actress. Biography and career Her first appearance was on the Brazilian TV network Rede Globo. Among the many characters she has played are Jô Penteado in ''A Gata Comeu'' (1985), and Fernanda in '' Selva de Pedra''. In 1981, Torloni played first daughter Helena, a character created by Manoel Carlos in the telenovela '' Baila Comigo''. Torloni also starred in the popular Brazilian telenovela ''Mulheres Apaixonadas''. and appears in the role of Rebeca Bianchi on the telenovela Ti Ti Ti. In addition to her television and film career, Torloni has performed on most Brazilian theater stages, and in 1990 she hosted the re-opening of the Teatro Amazonas in Brazil. Rafael Rodrigues Barreto (born October 21, 1985), best known as Rafael Barreto, is a Brazilian pop singer and songwriter. He rose to fame after winning the third season of the reality television show ''Ídolos Brazil''. Biography Rafael Barreto was born on October 21, 1985, in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil. He has been singing since age 13 and began composing at 16. Barreto became motherless in 2006, his father left home and gave no further news. Then, he had a brain aneurysm at the end of 2007 and receive a full support from his brother, Edu Barreto and his girlfriend Deya. ''Ídolos'' was a Brazilian reality television competition to find new solo singing talent. Part of the ''Idol'' franchise, it was created by Simon Fuller as a spin-off from the British show ''Pop Idol'', of which two series were broadcast between 2001 and 2003. The show aims to discover the best singer in the country through a series of nationwide auditions in which viewer voting determines the winner. It is currently the second largest commercial TV station in Brazil, and the 28th largest in the 2012 world ranking. ''Monica and Friends'' (known as ''Turma da Mônica'' in Brazil, ''Mónica e Amigos'' in the European Portuguese dub and ''Monica's Gang'' in past translations) is a Brazilian series of cartoons based on the comic book ''Monica and Friends'' by Mauricio de Sousa. The series runs on Cartoon Network and previously on Globo, but in 2014, Globo stopped to air the series. Six DVDs with episodes of the series were released, distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment. Globo displayed the newest episodes of the DVDs. ''Malhação'' (, ''Young Hearts'' in English) is a Brazilian soap-opera that aired on TV Globo from 4 March 1995 to 3 April 2020. The series is targeted at a teenage audience. Each season runs for about a year with cast members changing every season. History The soap opera began in 1995, and was initially set in a fictional Gym Club called ''Malhação'' on Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro. Through the years the setting varied each season.
