2008 Taça De Portugal Final
The 2008 Taça de Portugal Final was the final match of the 2007–08 Taça de Portugal, the 68th season of the Taça de Portugal, the premier Portuguese football cup competition organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The match was played on 18 May 2008 at the Estádio Nacional in Oeiras, and opposed two Primeira Liga sides: Porto and Sporting CP. Sporting CP defeated Porto 2–0, thanks to two extra-time goals from Brazilian striker Rodrigo Tiuí which would give Sporting CP their fifteenth Taça de Portugal. In Portugal, the final was televised live in HD on SIC and Sport TV. As Sporting CP claimed their fifteenth Taça de Portugal, they qualified for the 2008 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, where they took on the winners of the 2007–08 Primeira Liga, Porto at the Estádio Algarve. 2007–08 Taça De Portugal
The 2007–08 Taça de Portugal was the 68th edition of the Portuguese football knockout tournament, organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). The 2007–08 Taça de Portugal began on 2 September 2007. The final was played on 18 May 2008 at the Estádio Nacional. Sporting CP were the previous holders, having defeated Belenenses 1–0 in the previous season's final. Sporting CP regained the Taça de Portugal by defeating Porto, 2–0 in the final to win there fifteenth Taça de Portugal. By winning the Taça de Portugal, Sporting CP qualified for the 2008 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira. The team captain of an association football team, sometimes known as the skipper, is a team member chosen to be the on-pitch leader of the team; they are often one of the older or more experienced members of the squad, or a player that can heavily influence a game or has good leadership qualities. Pedro Emanuel
Pedro Emanuel dos Santos Martins Silva (born 11 February 1975), known as Pedro Emanuel, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played mainly as a central defender, currently manager of Saudi Arabian club Khaleej FC. In his 16-year professional career he was closely associated with the two biggest teams in Porto, Boavista – he helped it win its first and only Primeira Liga title in 2001 – and FC Porto, being team captain of both. Jorge Ciro Fucile Perdomo (; born 19 November 1984) is a Uruguayan former professional footballer. A defender, he was equally at ease on the right or left flank. Nuno Herlander Simões Espírito Santo (born 25 January 1974), often referred to as simply Nuno, is a Portuguese football manager and former footballer who played as a goalkeeper. He is currently the manager of Saudi Professional League club Al-Ittihad. During his career he first made a name for himself in Spain, playing for three teams in five years. The 2008 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was the 30th edition of the Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira, the annual Portugal, Portuguese association football, football season-opening match contested by the winners of the previous season's top Primeira Liga, league and Taça de Portugal, cup competitions (or cup runner-up in case the league- and cup-winning club is the same). 2008 Supertaça Cândido de Oliveira was contested by FC Porto, Porto and Sporting Clube de Portugal, Sporting CP.
