2008 NASCAR Camping World East Series
The 2008 NASCAR Camping World East Series was the 22nd season of the Camping World East Series, a regional stock car racing series sanctioned by NASCAR. The season began on April 19, 2008, at Greenville-Pickens Speedway with the An American Revolution 150. The regular season concluded on October 12, 2008, at Stafford Motor Speedway. Matt Kobyluck won the championship, 210 points in front of Austin Dillon. Joey Logano entered the season as the defending drivers' champion, but he did not defend his championship because he moved up to the Nationwide Series in 2008. It also marked the first season with Camping World as the title sponsor, which replaced Anheuser-Busch's Busch Beer after 21 years. Schedule * Races aired on delay only. Matt Kobyluck
Matt Kobyluck (born February 19, 1970) is a driver in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, a regional stepping-stone series to NASCAR's national divisions. Kobyluck, who celebrated his 10th season in the NCWS East in 2008, is one of the few drivers left that competed under the old Busch North Series banner, and is the only driver of Native American descent in the series. Career Kobyluck began his career in 1993 driving in the popular Late Model division at Waterford Speedbowl in his home state of Connecticut. There, he posted numerous wins, top-five, and top-10 finishes – proving his ability to maneuver around the tight confines of a 3/8 mile bullring. His ease behind the wheel caught the attention of fellow competitors, and before long, he was asked to add to his already demanding schedule by piloting a car in the Modified division. Iowa Speedway
Iowa Speedway is a 7/8-mile (1.4 km) paved oval motor racing track in Newton, Iowa, United States, approximately east of Des Moines. It has over 25,000 permanent seats as well as a unique multi-tiered RV viewing area along the backstretch. The premiere event of the track is the Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend held yearly in July since its inaugural running in 2007. Mansfield Motor Speedway (formerly Mansfield Motorsports Park and Mansfield Motorsports Speedway) was a 0.44 mile dirt track located in Mansfield, Ohio, United States. History The former Mansfield Motorsports Park (known as Mansfield Motorsports Speedway prior to 2007) closed in 2010. With its moderately high banking and a wide racing surface, it was suitable for close racing and passing. Lime Rock Park is a natural-terrain motorsport road racing venue located in Lakeville, Connecticut, United States, a hamlet in the town of Salisbury, in the state's northwest corner. Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway is a motorsport racetrack located at the Nashville Fairgrounds near downtown Nashville, Tennessee. The track is the second-oldest continually operating track in the United States. The track held NASCAR Grand National/Winston Cup (now NASCAR Cup Series) races from 1958 to 1984. Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (TSMP), formerly Thompson Speedway and Thompson International Speedway, is a motorsports park in Thompson, Connecticut, featuring a asphalt oval racetrack and a road racing course. The Apple Barrel 125 is an ARCA Menards Series East (formerly a NASCAR K&N Pro Series East) race held annually at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The track held a second race in the month of September, the Apple Barrel 125, for two years in 2018 and 2019. For the 2020 season, the track was reduced back down to one race, which was this one, and the United Site Services 70, the original race at the track that was run in July each year, was dropped. Watkins Glen International, nicknamed "The Glen", is an automobile race track located in the town of Dix just southwest of the village of Watkins Glen, New York, at the southern tip of Seneca Lake. The General Tire 100 at The Glen is an ARCA Menards Series race held annually at Watkins Glen International, on the road course. It was previously a part of the NASCAR East Series schedule until 2020 when the series was merged with ARCA and was moved to the ARCA Menards Series schedule. History The NASCAR Busch North Series had run at Watkins Glen from 1993 until 2004. The series, now known as the NASCAR Camping World East Series, returned to track four years later in 2008 and 2009, but the race was removed from the schedule again after that.
